Rising Stars: Meet Fatima Ndoye of TUCSON

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Ndoye

Hi FATIMA, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey has been anything but linear, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. I graduated from the University of Arizona in May of 2020 with a degree in nursing and started working bedside in the hospital shortly after. While I loved caring for patients, I always felt a pull toward something more creative.

That pull became undeniable when I secured my first paid partnership in January 2020. It was such an empowering moment—I realized I could turn my passion for beauty and creativity into something tangible. For two years, I balanced my nursing career with creating content, learning the ropes of marketing, and building a personal brand on social media.

In 2022, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue marketing and content creation full-time. Since then, I’ve been wearing all the hats—managing every aspect of my business myself, from ideation to execution. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with incredible brands like Giorgio Armani, Marriott, and Liquid IV, all while sharing beauty and travel content that resonates with my audience.

This journey has been a testament to trusting myself and being willing to pivot when the right opportunities arise. My nursing background taught me discipline and empathy, which I’ve carried into this career, and it’s been exciting to see how far I’ve come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth road, but I thrive in chaos, and this job has definitely taught me to embrace that. Working for yourself requires discipline in ways you can’t fully prepare for—managing your time, staying organized, and being your own motivator every single day.

After leaving the hospital, I worked as a nanny for a private agency to supplement my income until I felt confident in myself and my brand. It was a humbling experience but necessary for my growth. Unlike traditional jobs, this industry doesn’t guarantee a paycheck every two weeks. Working invoice to invoice isn’t for the weak, but when you love what you do, it makes all the uncertainty worth it.

One of the hardest challenges I faced was telling my Senegalese parents that I wanted to leave the medical field to pursue content creation and marketing. Like many African families, they dreamed of me becoming a doctor, lawyer, or engineer—anything that fit the traditional mold of success. Following a nontraditional path was difficult for them to understand at first, even with me always being able to use my degree in the future, but I’ve worked hard to show them that I can build a fulfilling and meaningful career doing what I love.

While there have been struggles, every challenge has made me more resilient. I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full-time content creator and digital marketer, and my work spans beauty, travel, and lifestyle content. I specialize in creating visually engaging and relatable material that resonates with my audience, whether it’s through tutorials, product reviews, or showcasing my adventures.

One thing I’m proud of is that I’ve managed to build this career from the ground up, completely on my own. I’ve collaborated with major brands like Giorgio Armani, Marriott, and Liquid IV, but I’ve also partnered with smaller businesses, which holds a special place in my heart. Helping brands tell their story while staying authentic to my own is a balance I’m proud to have mastered.

What sets me apart is my ability to wear many hats—I’m not just a creator; I’m a marketer, strategist, editor, and businesswoman. Additionally, my strong suit is capturing events through photos and videos and weaving them into a story that the viewer can truly feel. Whether it’s a moment of joy at an event or the intricate details of a product, I excel at presenting these experiences in a way that resonates on an emotional level.

What I’m most proud of, though, is the discipline and resilience this journey has taught me. Thriving in an industry where no two days are the same requires adaptability and a willingness to keep learning. I’m constantly pushing myself to grow, not just for my audience and the brands I work with, but for myself.

Ultimately, my work is about more than creating content; it’s about connecting with people, inspiring them, and showing that pursuing your passions is worth it.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality to my success is discipline. Working for yourself, especially in an unpredictable industry like content creation and digital marketing, requires a level of self-motivation and structure that isn’t always easy to maintain. There’s no one holding you accountable except yourself, and every aspect of your business, from ideation to execution, rests on your shoulders.

Discipline has helped me stay consistent, meet deadlines, and continue learning and evolving in my craft. It’s also what keeps me moving forward during challenging times, whether it’s waiting on invoices or navigating the uncertainties of freelancing.

This characteristic has been a cornerstone for me, allowing me to build a brand I’m proud of, deliver high-quality work to my clients, and stay true to my goals even when the path isn’t clear. Without discipline, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
