So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the President and Founder of Centralized Vision and have more than 20 years of experience in the security industry. Headquartered in Phoenix Arizona, Centralized Vision is a leading company that offers real-time monitoring services to provide safety and security for companies and families throughout the world.
My wife Tami and I founded Centralized Vision in 2007, after hearing the frustrations of business owners who had difficulty in preventing property damage and theft with unmonitored security cameras. With innovations in technology and increased bandwidth available through the Internet we developed an innovative security platform that provided pro-active protection of property and assets for companies by using remote-camera monitoring with real-time response options. From our central station, equipped with safety-certified specialists, 24 hours a day, Centralized Vision now provides real-time monitoring for companies such as auto dealerships, medical marijuana dispensaries, construction facilities, retail centers, schools, entertainment facilities, sporting venues, recycling facilities, office buildings and warehouse distribution centers.
I started in the security industry while in high school as a part-time security officer working for Vigilante Security Services (VSS), a small security services company my parents founded in 1988. After attending college and developing a strong business acumen as a leading salesperson for an office solutions company, I returned to work at VSS as Sales Representative in 1999 and closed more than $2.5 million in sales in my first year. As VSS continued to grow, and prior to moving on to launch Centralized Vision, I was promoted to Vice President, Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President. I’ve been active with many associations, such as American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Phoenix Chapter, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Phoenix, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and Arizona Association of Community Managers (AACM).
Prior to earning a degree in Sociology and minoring in Communication from Arizona State University in 1996, I played baseball at Glendale Community College, University of Arizona and Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. My wife and I currently reside in Scottsdale, Ariz. with our children Dayne and Tatum.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road traveled by any business owner can be bumpy and we are no different. If it was smooth then everyone would do it, which is what makes the successes we’ve achieved today through perseverance that much sweeter. Launching the type of business we are and wanted to become wasn’t easy, as we were planning to provide a service that had never been offered to the community before. The speed of the internet has a lot to do with our company being able to provide our services. Think back to what the internet was like in 2006, when I do, I still wonder how we were able to pull it off. We were pioneers that overcame challenges like this every day. Without having the luxury of utilizing other companies in the industry as a means to learn from, we worked through a lot of trial and error. As we continue to thrive today, we are faced with different challenges that continue to excite the Centralized Vision team. To see so many customers taking advantage of the many services we now offer today across the country is even more fulfilling then imagined 11 years ago.
