Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabeur Rouin.
Born and raised in a family that loves the kitchen, Sabeur decided that hummus and dips didn’t need to be very salty to taste good. He decided to create a variety of dips that are healthy and tasty using natural non-GMO and organic ingredients of which about 90% of their locally made to keep the products fresh. 2004 was the year that Doctor Hummus figured out that healthy and tasty hummus were missing in Arizona.
He uses some of his grandmother’s recipes of hummus and while also creating his own recipes for vegan dips, vegan pesto, vegan tapenades. To make it even better, Doctor Hummus created his own line of thin layered pita chips that crunch in your mouth without breaking your teeth. All of that has made their company see great growth in the valley in the last 14 years. Their customers are the non-vegan and vegan people that like to enjoy tasty food without the guilt of it being unhealthy.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As any starting small business, it has been a roller coaster. Every day there is a new challenge in a market where people like new things. However, we have learned that business without machines breaking down, employees calling in sick, competition getting stronger, raising the minimum wage is really not fun. All of those challenges, as long as they don’t kill us, always make us stronger.
Doctor Hummus – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a dips, chips and food processing company. We specialize in making dips and chips non-GMO verified and also make sandwiches, wraps and salads for grocery stores and local farmers markets.
We are very proud of every single product that we send out of our kitchen because we only use the best ingredients and provide the greatest taste so that our customers can enjoy our food and use it as a part of their health solution, not a problem. We always have listened to our conscious and make everything like it was made for our own families. We believe that every customer deserves respect and we show that in the way we make our food.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career will be always the moments that I receive emails or phone calls from customers letting me know how much they love our products.

Love your products. Especially love your Rosemary Pita Chips which I’ve emailed you about several times. Still looking in the supermarkets where you sell them for boxes that actually have Rosemary on the chips. Years ago, they were loaded with Rosemary, now hardly any on the chips in the boxes I’ve finding. Disappointed.
