Meet Nathan Verwoert of True Lagoon Pools

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Verwoert.

Hi Nathan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers. 
Well, it depends on how far back we are going. After high school, I went to community college. At that time, I started in a band. We made some great music and toured for a bit, but unfortunately, the band broke up. After that, I started up with a few different tech companies and had some success. Still, I was not fully satisfied with what I was doing. Then, I moved into real estate and short-term rentals. I managed a few airbnbs and noticed the lack of quality pool service. So eventually, I started servicing all the pools at the properties I managed, and it turned into a new business – True Lagoon Pools!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggle of starting a new business for the first time can last for years. Luckily I’ve had some great mentors like Nathan Hyer who have guided me along the way. Also, meeting Nathan allowed me to get back into music. We currently have a band together call Hyer Tide. But, honestly, you take your failures and lessons and ultimately grow into something that you could have never dreamed of being real. Last thing, I partner with my wife Nicole, who took over the back end of the business which has made my life so so much easier. Without these two, I wouldn’t be speaking with you.

We’ve been impressed with True Lagoon Pools, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
True Lagoon Pools is a pool service company. We provide weekly service as well as repair work. What truly sets us apart is our communication and care for our work. I personally feel that some of the bigger pool companies have lost their personal relationship with their clients. We have an open-door policy and love speaking/educating with all of our clients.

We are known for growing our company organically. Most pool companies grow their business by purchasing other business routes. We are proud that we have never had to purchase a route. We have grown so quickly from referrals alone.

Also, we are pros at STRs or short-term rentals. We know how to work with property managers or owners and how to schedule and get the job done while accommodating guests. Guests at Airbnb’s expect a clean pool every day of the week. We also add 2x a week service to make sure the STR pool is always good to go.

How do you think about luck?
Well, luck can happen. Sometimes, you’re blessed. I don’t really know who controls things out there. God maybe, but I went through over 12 years of figuring out how a business is ran properly and was blessed by the people who have helped me achieve that dream.
