Meet Mike and Mary Beth Partanna of Uncharted Tiny Homes in Cave Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike and Mary Beth Partanna.

Mike and Mary Beth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We were sitting on the couch one night watching tiny home shows on TV… this was when they first started gaining popularity. So, we researched it a bit and noticed that there weren’t any other tiny home companies in the Phoenix area. With Mike having a background in building and remodeling, we knew that we could bring the tiny home market to Phoenix. So, we started building our first model in the back of a cheer gym in Scottsdale expecting to just sell it after we were done and move on to something else. Next thing we knew, Uncharted became a full-fledged business with nationwide recognition.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’d love to say there haven’t been any bumps along the way but that’s just not the case. Unfortunately, tiny homes are not easily financed by the consumer so that does take a toll on our productivity rate. We had to move from a comfortable 5,000 sq ft building with space for a showroom to an open field building outside. Nothing is ever 100% easy and we now look back with gratitude that we were able to transition and continue doing what we love.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Uncharted Tiny Homes – what should we know?
We specialize in building tiny homes on wheels and that can’t be done without our local trailer manufacturer. We designed a trailer that is unique to the way we build and is a stronger foundation than any other tiny home trailer on the market. We would say our quality and designs are one of a kind and definitely set us apart. Our layouts are much more user-friendly than a lot of the other layouts we’ve seen which is something we were dedicated to forming from the beginning. We’ve also done custom tiny homes since Mike can literally build anything and we strive to make every tiny home unique to the client. Customer service is also extremely important to us. We try to make everything as easy as possible for our clients, give them plenty of options, and work with their budgets as much as possible.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The ability to build a lasting tiny home is key. Also, we’d say flexibility is also very important. We’ve had clients that want to be involved in every step of the way and there were clients that wanted us to choose different things in their tiny home for them. Being able to adapt to each clients’ needs is major.
