Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Moore.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Mother’s Grace 12 years ago after a harrowing journey with cancer. I was dxed and three weeks later my middle son (seven at the time) was rushed to PCH (PHX Children’s) with a life-threatening Type one Juvenile Diabetes DX. The next two years were spent working, having chemo and various other grueling treatments, and teaching a seven year old to be insulin dependent. At this time, I realized Moms need support..moms who are working and have an overwhelming life circumstance and they need immediate support. We started Mothers Grace with 2k from a garage sale and now 12 years later, it is thriving raising more than 1/2 million per year and impacting over 5 thousand moms since inception.
Has it been a smooth road?
Mostly smooth, I have a board of 11 amazing professionals, no drama women that make things happen daily all as volunteers.
Please tell us about Mother’s Grace.
We provide support in the way of mortgage, rent, utilities, meals, and counseling for moms in crisis. We support moms in the immediacy of their needs most of the time getting aid to them within a week. We have less than 10 percent admin costs as we are volunteers. There is no other org in AZ that we are aware of that pays a mortgage and then partners with local businesses to get moms into a counseling appt. Life coaching, meals for a month, gas cards, and help with driving back and forth to medical appts. There is a book about these powerhouse moms coming out on AUG 25th published by HCI publishing and Simon and Schuster – it will detail a mother’s grace. Watch for it its called “A Mother’s Grace, healing the world one Woman at a time!”
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We hope to open up Mother’s Grace East Coast in 2021…our name has found it’s way to hospitals across the country and they are begging for the organization to scale and replicate in other areas of the country.
