Hi Michelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into healthcare began when my innate compassion and commitment to aiding others led me to leave the corporate sector. This shift allowed me to establish a small business focused on transporting individuals in need, which, in turn, opened numerous doors for me within the community. I leveraged this opportunity to venture into the skilled nursing and long-term care sector, where I utilized my growing network and expertise to become a leading provider of patient-centered, high-acuity care for geriatric and pediatric patients in the Phoenix area, even expanding our impact across multiple states. 

My career progressed to a vice presidential position within a continuum of care community, where my tenure was marked by the onset of COVID. During this challenging time, I applied my experience and understanding of community needs to pivot our operations, ensuring the safety and comfort of our patients in a homelike setting. This experience reinforced my belief that there was more I could contribute to bringing patient-centered care into homes. We’ve significantly influenced the Phoenix community by providing alternatives to long-term care facilities, allowing many to receive the care they need in the comfort of their own homes. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a woman in a predominantly male industry, I found myself in a position where I had to consistently demonstrate my commitment and proficiency.

What are your plans for the future?
I am actively involved in evolving the Cornerstones Hospital to Home program, which requires collaboration with all three local hospital networks to ensure that patients can transition smoothly back to their homes with our support. The aim is to make certain that no individual faces the journey to recovery alone.
