Meet Coach Kenny Weiss in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Weiss.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kenny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story began at the age of 12 when I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and found my mom passed out naked on the toilet, she was an alcoholic. Because as a society we have a bias against learning about how to be a parent, have a relationship or handle our emotions, my parents and I had no information to handle all of this. Therefore, like so many others, I was left with incredible emotions and no tools to handle them. That led to my becoming an alcoholic, a sex addict, tobacco addict, sugar addict, spending addict and a love addict. I went through two horrific divorces, a child custody battle, a bankruptcy, I played two professional sports I never wanted to play and I contemplated suicide.

Luckily for me, I always had a fascination for psychology and personal growth so while I was putting myself through all of that I kept trying to learn why I was such a train wreck and how I could stop the self-destruction. That hunger came in handy as I contemplated suicide. I spent 3 days holed up in my apartment trying to write a letter to my kids wanting to explain how much pain I was in and how I just couldn’t live that way anymore. The problem was, I had spent almost 30 years learning about psychology and why we do what we do so every reason I came up with I knew was manipulative and honestly, a bunch of self-victimization that I didn’t want to own. Once I realized I couldn’t write the suicide note, I went into my office and wrote something else down. I wrote, “I want to come up with a protocol that no one else has discovered that will fundamentally change society.”

Over the next few years, I culled all of my years of writing and research and researched even more and it culminated in my finding something that I call “The Worst Day Cycle.” It is a human condition, away every single person approaches and lives their life by and it is what keeps us all from our Greatness. It goes much deeper and offers a concrete plan that I just haven’t seen others speak or talk about. I wrote about it in my book “Your Journey To Success” and I then started “The Greatness Movement.”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t really define anything as a struggle anymore, for me everything is an opportunity to learn more. The biggest thing I am having to learn is how to share what I have discovered in a way that breaks down the societal bias against facing ourselves and our imperfections. In my experience, what kills us all is our predisposition to not want to see, share and admit how broken and imperfect we are. Not because we are bad but because we lack the knowledge on how to navigate life. We don’t want anyone to see what I call “Our Darkness.” In my experience, the only people who have found true peace, true success are those that turn towards their imperfections and become an expert in them. As I like to say, “When you learn to forgive yourself, they can’t hurt you with it anymore.”

Coach Kenny Weiss – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My clients generally fall into two main categories. The first are those that find themselves in pain. Maybe it is from a current life or work situation or it is something from their past they have known was there but they just weren’t ready to face it in part because they just didn’t know where to start or how to go about it. Because of my own history of living that life and my having found a pathway out, they feel comfortable that I have developed a process to show them the way out. The second typical client has usually gone to all or any of the other seminars or forums, read the books, worked with other therapists or coaches but they are still stuck. They have grown past the superficial buzzwords or have found that they don’t provide the full solution. Something is missing. They want to go deeper and are looking to take the next step. They are looking for the complete self-awareness process that I offer.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There really hasn’t been a specific day because I find that every day I am proud of the work I do.
