Meet Kalimah Jarrett of Brows by Kali & Haus of Artistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalimah Jarrett.

Hi Kalimah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out in education in 2013 as a middle school teacher, and that experience shaped a lot of who I am. I loved working with people and making an impact, but I knew I wanted more freedom and did not want my life tied to one schedule forever. Before becoming an artist, I was actually a client myself, and that experience opened my eyes. I saw firsthand how permanent makeup could boost someone’s confidence. I was already naturally artistic and craving a path I could control, and one day it just clicked. I just knew this was what I was supposed to do.

When I stepped into the PMU industry, I found a path that gave me freedom. Freedom to work on my own terms, build financial independence, and do meaningful work through my creativity. When I created Brows by Kali, my teaching background naturally followed. Over time, I found myself helping not just clients, but artists as well.

Today, I get to support people in building confidence in themselves and, for many, taking the leap into entirely new careers.
I’m creating on my own terms while helping others feel empowered in more ways than one. I’m truly living a dream.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There were moments that tested me in ways I didn’t expect. I used to rent from a salon suite owner, and when they fell behind on payments, the suite ended up shutting down, which had a big impact on my business, and from there I realized I never wanted my business in the hands of someone else, so I opened my own space, Haus of Artistry. With that, has come amazing rewards but also a few challenges. As I grew, some friendships evolved, either growing stronger or weakened. It’s life though, and I’ve made peace with that. Looking back, I needed to go through those trials. Each obstacle has taught me resilience, helped me clarify my goals, and has made me a better business owner. A better friend, a better mom, and better wife.

Haus of Artistry is more than just a permanent makeup salon. We offer a full range of beauty services including tinting, lamination, threading, lashes, med spa treatments, permanent jewelry, fine line tattoos and so much more! What sets us apart is the experience. Coming here you’ll definitely feel like you’re just chatting with your friends in your living room. We want you to feel comfortable, confident and cared for. I’m most proud of the community we have built, a place where women genuinely support one another and grow together.
Along with serving clients, we also create opportunities for aspiring artists to learn and build their careers within the industry. Haus of Artistry is a place to connect, feel supported, and leave knowing your own potential.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I wouldn’t be where I am without my husband, who has been my biggest supporter from day one. Even though it may take a little convincing sometimes, he has always believed in my vision. I love & appreciate him for that. My family and my best friends have supported me in ways I’ll forever be grateful for. Along the way, I’ve also been lucky to meet business friends who truly turned into real friends and family.
My salon team is more than I could have ever imagined. They are the most genuine, supportive group of women, and I’m so thankful for each of them. I’ve also had amazing mentors who shared their knowledge, challenged me, and helped me grow. Most importantly, the support from my clients has been so loud and so meaningful. I feel incredibly blessed and love them soooo much!
Every single person who has believed in me, guided me, or trusted me with their confidence has played a role in shaping both me and my business.
