Meet Heather Rae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Rae. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Heather Rae

Heather Rae is a soul-pop singer, songwriter, producer, and Nashville recording artist based in Phoenix, AZ. Her refreshingly unique sound is inspired by Adele, Amy Winehouse, and iconic legends like Aretha Franklin and Etta James. Originally from Minot, North Dakota, she entered the entertainment industry as a figure skater, singer, and emcee in professional ice shows. Since then, she has made a name for herself as a powerhouse vocalist and sharp-witted songwriter. She has performed in numerous venues nationwide and recently released her debut EP, Liberosis.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Early in my career, I was tired of being turned down audition after audition. So, I decided to start creating my own shows as a “temporary” (or so I thought) creative outlet. It turns out, I love creating shows just as much as performing in them and I only discovered this through other shows turning me down. I really am so thankful I was given that extra little push to try something on my own!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I write and produce music and perform with my band. I’m proud of the music I’ve put out because I’ve learned so much with each song. My goal has always been to create something just a little better than the last thing I put out, and hopefully, my next release will be even better!

We’d love to hear about your fond memories from growing up.
One of my earliest memories was belting out “Respect” by Aretha Franklin at the top of my lungs in our garage (I loved the acoustics in there). I barely knew what the word respect meant, but I knew I wanted it and wanted to sing like Aretha. She was my first singing inspiration.
