Meet Hank Robinson of Hanro Studios Engraving in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hank Robinson.

Hank, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I served ten years in the US Army as an infantry squad leader with deployments to Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. After getting out I went through a rough transition time. I ended up attending a welding school where I was first introduced to the Dremel. I made a few projects and posted them online, started to get custom orders here and there and continued to build from there. I haven’t put the Dremel down since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Building a business that hasn’t really existed like mine was and is a challenge. Always trying to show something new and different to capture new audiences and do something that has never been done in the engraving world.

Please tell us about Hanro Studios Engraving.
I am the owner-operator of Hanro Studios Engraving. I specialize in hand engraving with a Dremel on all different mediums. However, I am known most for my metalwork. I can do anything from a small house sign, rambler cups all the way to engraving a full truck/car. I have been the official engraver for Dremel for the past 5+ years traveling around the world performing live engraving with my engravings being auctioned to charitable organizations such as Children’s Miracle Network. Two years ago, I signed on with Monster Energy and became the first Official Engraver for Monster. I believe my ability to create new and inventive art is what sets me apart from others.

I am most proud of the work that I get to do with Veterans. As a Veteran myself with PTSD, my passion is helping other Veterans by providing Art Therapy Classes focused on PTSD. It gets them to a place that allows them to focus on something different and be able to create with their hands. I also am involved with The Warrior Built Foundation, which is a combat Veteran foundation focused on recreational therapy.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Absolutely nothing, the lessons learned built the business and have made me who I am.
