Today we’d like to introduce you to David Navarrete.
Hi David, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is David Navarrete, a video strategist/film director. Growing up, I was raised as a classic millennial. I was told I had the world at my feet and that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. As we all know now that was a beautiful lie and for some a hurtful one. Being given the hopes to accomplish our dreams without setting realistic expectations can ruin us.
However, this pressure took a different approach to my psyche. Yes, it created anxiety and depression, but it also created a tenacious determination inside of me. With constant thoughts of self-doubt and thinking something wrong with me, I was determined to overcome the challenges that impeded me from obtaining what was promised to me growing up which was to succeed in anything I do.
Now, it was a matter of finding out what I wanted to do. I’ve tried a variety of different ventures, from becoming a pro-Lucha Libre wrestler, a musician, to graduating premed with dyslexia to become a doctor. All these stories were purposefully put forth to lead me to my final story which is to be able to share everyone else’s beautiful stories through a visual medium of filmmaking.
I still fight with depression and anxiety that cripples me, but I’ve accepted that it’s part of what makes my story great. Every great story needs conflict, and now I welcome conflict in my life with open arms ready to see how my story unfolds.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I’ve had many challenges, but I was blessed with the creative resources to find a solution to each one. It wasn’t till I got to my upper classes in Premed when I found out how strong my resolve was for overcoming challenges. I had dyslexia while learning Biochemistry. I then studied what dyslexia really is to see if I could work around it.
Dyslexia made it hard for me to interpret symbols like letters and numbers in my head. However, a study explained that people with dyslexia had an incredible visual imagination, which was true for me! So instead of seeing the words “house” my mind would immediately see a vivid house. With this breakthrough, I worked hard on memorizing images as my visual language.
I created a visual story in my head on how a chemical reaction behaves in our body. With this newfound confidence in problem-solving, I knew I could accomplish anything with creative hard work.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Moneta De Sine a creative video production company that helps brands increase visibility and helps solve problems through visual storytelling. As an owner, I wanted to make sure Moneta is known for its ability to tell a great story. For years, I have been dedicated myself to studying the best way to influence an audience through filmmaking and I am now bringing that information to the commercial world.
A business video should be purposely made to create an ROI. By structuring your message in the most effective way to convert viewers into buyers we have been able to grow our video production in a small amount of time. We have another service called StoryBites where we capture all the video content you need in a month in a single day.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I hope to build my business into an empire and branch out into creating a community of filmmakers that can collaborate share ideas and experiences. As well as be a central hub for filmmakers and content creators in Arizona to come by and feel safe and learn to grow their video production businesses.
