Meet Clinton Fields of FieldsPowerFitness in East Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clinton Fields.

Clinton, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
All through my teenage and early adult years, right after college, I was a smaller guy, until I worked at a pizza place and took a pizza home every-night! I know terrible, over three months, I put on weight, but it was not good weight at all! I became self-conscience about my self and the weight, especially with a couple of my friends joking on me, lol, so I joined LA fitness and started researching different workouts and diets. I saw major results as did others in the gym, they started asking me all kinds of questions on diets and exercises, so I started selling meal plans and workout plans to people for close to nothing. About six months go by and I decide to get nationally certified in personal training and start a business. I handled all the legal paperwork and obtained my certs. I started training clients part-time for a while until business majorly picked up! I ended up leaving my job to run my training company full time! I have been running it for about five years now and still love what I do!

Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all, as a trainer, you are not a necessity, so clients come and go all the time, but you still have your loyal clients which I have. They have stuck with me since the beginning and saw my growth as I helped them obtain their fitness goals. A couple of struggles as running a whole company by yourself, I do everything from scheduling, consultations, billing, bookkeeping, etc. I learned it all on my own and I must say it was all worth it, but it was definitely a struggle.

Tell us more about your work.
I am a Personal Trainer, I specialize in weight loss, weight gain, nutrition, knowledge on a variety of exercises, correct form on equipment usage, boot camp instruction, and athletic training. I will create a personalized training plan for a client based on their current fitness level and goals. A lot of clients come to me for lower body goals, legs, glutei, etc. It’s a love-hate relationship with me and my clients, then when they see those results, it’s more love with a little hate, lol!

I’m most proud to be running a whole operation by myself and continued to do it through the ups and downs because it’s definitely not easy at all. I would say my training style and personality sets me apart, I don’t train like a drill Sargeant, yelling and screaming, I’m more relaxed, BUT I make sure the work gets done! I like to laugh and chat with my clients, they all know I joke a lot and are all cool with that!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Honestly, I’m not sure, each year I set small goals and keep my foot on the gas never giving up. Hopefully, I’ll be running my company and firefighting again, that’s my overall goal!
