Thanks for sharing your story with us Brett. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have owned and operated staffing companies for the past 29 years. Several years ago, I coined the phrase Attitude is Free. I found through my years of staffing that there were a handful of characteristics that truly defined highly successful people. There was only 1 that did not take effort, education, experience and that was Attitude. What started as a slogan that was used to remind myself and my corporate staff is now becoming a movement. I received a federally registered trademark for the slogan. I started wearing Tee Shirts with the slogan. The more I wore the shirts, the more people asked me about it, commented on how much they liked it, and we decided to share our belief with the world. The final push is when I read an article in the Wall Street Journal that highlighted the success of a similar company, Life is Good. No offense to Life is Good, we love their slogan, but in my humble opinion life is not good for everyone. I believe that Attitude is Free is for every person.
Has it been a smooth road?
We are at the very beginning stages of trying to monetize Attitude is Free. We hope to 1 day, break even. If we do make a profit we plan to donate a substantial portion of our profits to inner-city youth basketball. Basketball is my passion, and Attitude is Free already sponsors a High School Prep basketball team based out of Phoenix as well as a Nationally recognized AAU club team. Up until very recently, all I did was give our Merch away. I’ve spoiled people with Tee Shirts, tank tops, hats, hoodies, duffle bags, and other goodies. For me now selling my passion has been a little bit of an adjustment.

In my real life, I am the Chief Executive Officer of a company named TheBestIRS. We are the largest Insurance Staffing Company in the United States. We were named the 55th best staffing company in the US by Forbes. That in itself was quite humbling as I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would ever be on any Forbes list. My business partner, Brad Dunlap now handles a high percentage of the daily responsibilities for our Golden Goose. Attitude is Free is my legacy project. It might take a year, it might take five years, but 1 day I believe that Attitude is Free will be a slogan that people across the world will want to wear for themselves.
What sets us apart is that we are not driven by profits. Our #1 goal is to create a movement!! We want people to enjoy the benefits of embracing Attitude is Free.
What are your plans for the future?
Our website opens mid-September (although we have a temporary site up now). We own everything social media has with The Attitude is Free name. Our Attitude is Free YouTube channel will soon do short stories about people who embrace AIF. We want to be a force on social media sharing inspiring stories with the world. Our biggest change will be continuing to roll out new Merch.
