Meet Antonio Orozco of Mariscos Frescos El Original in West Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Orozco.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Antonio. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I first began Mariscos Frescos El Original with a lot of help and encouragement from my family. I was working on starting the build for the food trailer for two years and on the way, I dealt with some issues that would always make me second guess my self and would have to remind myself to keep going and no matter what not to give up on my dream. Finally I opened my food trailer, friends , family and customers would come support and would tell me that they loved the food eventually word of mouth about my food got customers coming over to try our food from all over the valley and even other states ,if it wasn’t for family friends and our customers continued support I believe I would not be serving food today or even be able to stay open and continue to do what I love to do, because of that we try and do our best when serving our customers and making their food.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main struggles I’ve had from the beginning is dealing with issues on the build of the food trailer once it was done, the builder took shortcuts and used the cheapest material and equipment ,that would cause us to close for weeks or months at a time because the builder would hold my food trailer to fix the problems but would not fix them correctly, running a business by myself has also been a struggle and eventually my wife had to quit her job to help me work the business full time, from the beginning we’ve been dealing with one issue or another but when you love what you do you always manage to find the solutions to your problems and keep going and we’ve been lucky to have the support from our family, friends and customers.

Please tell us about your business.
We serve Tacos and Mariscos and my menu is a fusion made up from my family’s recipes and my recipes and some authentic family recipes we specialize in Mariscos and Authentic Mexican Food , we are known for our Aguachiles topped with our special green sauce and our ceviche , we are also well complimented on our mini aguachile quesadillas and El original tacos ,and asada tacos.

At “Mariscos Frescos El Original” we are most proud of All the love and support for our food and small business that we continue to get which allows me to do what I love to.

I believe what sets us apart from other food trucks is how we introduce specials to the customers with certain items we do not have on the menu and the reason is that we are building a menu for a future brick and mortar and so we do a special of certain recipes that we have in mind for the customers and at the same time we get some feedback which is helping us build that menu , also the way we prepare our Mariscos and marínate our meats for tacos , and last but not least how we present our food .

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest thing I can say that’s come out of owning a food business is being able to help feed people that are going thru hard times or homeless etc. even if we were out all day and did not get one customer it satisfies me to prepare whatever food we got cooked and go out looking for people on the streets or people that walk up and are going thru hard times or are just hungry and can’t afford a meal and for us it’s just something we do on the daily and we are very proud of that since day one until this day.
