Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisia Bodrero.
Alisia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was little there was something about the art of fashion that always excited me. I was drawn to the opportunity to express your style through colors, shapes and creative combinations. Studying fashion in school helped me to discover the various roles in the industry and I was quickly intrigued by fashion buying. Focusing on what consumers desire based on trends, emotions and functional needs was such an interesting science to me. Plus, the fast pace of traveling to markets around the country while forecasting and chasing trends spoke to me and my lifestyle. I was hooked. In 2010, I landed my first buying position at a major department store. The experience I gained there launched me into other amazing buying opportunities in the industry. In the Fall of 2018, my husband and I decided that it was finally time to take the big leap and chase a new dream. With his help and support, TEAL MARKET was founded after we welcomed our first child into our family. My husband is an architect here in the valley and has such an eye for design and branding. He also handmade our pop-up shop booth and displays. It’s quite convenient having an in-house architect! The influence of modern architecture and clean lines is embedded in the company and helps to define the TEAL MARKET style.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think that one of the largest struggles in owning your own business is juggling all the company responsibilities without a large employee base. At TEAL MARKET, we have to be flexible and wear a lot of hats to make sure that we continue to grow the brand and strengthen our voice. You have to focus on what you feel is right while staying true to your dreams, morals and values. Trust in yourself, trust in the process and with enough patience and rigor you will start to see your hard work pay off.

I am most proud of the overwhelmingly positive response we have received here in the Phoenix community after only one year in business. This city has such talented makers and there is a remarkable support system here for small businesses. Also, we are passionate about giving back to this community and being a part of the positive change for women-owned businesses. We have worked with some great local organizations this past year and hope to grow this aspect of our company.
At TEAL MARKET, we are focused on bringing together exciting and unique jewelry pieces that are inspired by art, architecture and fashion. We source, curate and design quality jewelry and offer them at affordable price points. We are driven to create a collection that is eye catching yet modern and refined. All styles are gold plated and curated in our sunny AZ studio. As of now we carry an assortment of necklaces, earrings and rings. All items make great gifts and we ship all items purchased on the website gift wrapped!
What were you like growing up?
I was really into the arts, ice skating and gymnastics and always had a creative flair. In my free time, you could find me sketching ice skating outfits or leotards and choreographing my rollerblade routines. I loved making things! My mother taught me how to sew and always had recycled items on hand as crafting materials. I would make birthday cards, faux floral arrangements and other crafts and try to sell them to my friends and family. I guess there has always been an entrepreneurial spirit in me!
