Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Beltran.
Hi Adam, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since my youngest days I have had an interest in art and design. My earliest training though was initially towards an architectural degree, As time passed my interest waned, I later looked into a degree in graphic design. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Multimedia Design, I started a t-shirt graphics company screen printing tees and creating my own designs. During this time I was using photographs that I had taken and transferring the images onto screens for print. Later I shifted and focused mainly the graphics aspect and became a freelance designer creating logos for clients. On my off time I continued with my interest in photography. When I felt the time was right, I went in search of a photographer’s position at a local photo studio. I was hired briefly to take school portraits for students. At the time it wasn’t the right fit. Finding my first desk job, I was hired to produce communications and social media for a local Catholic church. There I was able to continue working and playing with a semi-professional camera. I spent a brief time at that position but this is where my interest for photography rapidly peaked. Coming off of that position I was hired at a construction equipment and wholesaler to produce images for product photography on their Amazon and website.
At the current, I work seasonally with a photo studio taking school portraits of student and I have been volunteering my time and talent as a social media manager for a Catholic lay organization for young adults. Although ever since coming off of the product photography, I have been seeking to work on my own as a photographer and I have also been fortunate to work with another photographer as a wedding photographer. As many photographers before, having initially starting in landscape photography, I have also been offering some of my photo works for sale on Society6.com and at a local Catholic bookstore Mary Immaculate.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many struggles as any artist can attest to. Finding gigs, working for cheap, working at position just to fill the gaps. Although these times really have shown me that the fight to continue on my path has been and is worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the current, some of my favorite works I am selling on my Society6 site https://society6.com/adamvbeltran. I am currently attempting to position myself as a portrait photographer, this is what I would like to known for hopefully in the very near future. But at the current I have a diverse portfolio yet I think this is what helps set me apart. My diversity in images and the field of training that got me here.
What matters most to you?
I would have to say, without hesitation, my faith. Had not I had the faith I have in God, and in myself then I do not believe I have continued to this point on this path. My family has been very important to me as well, with their encouragement and support.
