Life and Work with Sarrah Gaboury

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarrah Gaboury.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Arizona from Ohio to attend ASU where I earned a dual degree in Supply Chain Management and Marketing. Upon graduation when working at Boeing, I quickly realized that was not my passion. I later worked for a large recruiting company and gained a tremendous amount of experience. Soon after, I became engaged with my now husband and started planning our wedding. I immediately fell in love with the entire process and realized this was my calling, which has brought me to where I am today with my amazing co-owner, Jennifer Thye, and our company, Imoni Events, and I haven’t looked back since.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning a small business has its challenges. As an owner, you wear multiple hats and you need to be educated in everything from accounting to human resources to operations. You can outsource these roles, but you still need to understand what is going on in every aspect of your business. Also, with the wedding industry being so competitive, there are always new planners trying to break into the industry. It is extremely important to stay abreast the constant changes making sure that we remain the leaders and focus on what we do best. My biggest advice is to never give up on yourself and when your goals feel impossible, know the path of persistence always pays off.
