Today we’d like to introduce you to Rochelle Poulton.
Hi Rochelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Absolutely! My journey into entrepreneurship began in law and real estate. I’ve been an attorney for over a decade, solving complex financial and operational problems for both individuals and businesses. With over 20 years of experience in real estate, as a loan officer, Realtor, and real estate attorney, I’ve also owned, operated, invested in, and sold multiple businesses.
Over time, I realized my true strength lies in solving operational challenges and helping businesses grow from the inside out. I discovered that what I truly love is building systems, solving problems, and helping business owners operate more efficiently.
After selling my law firm, I started consulting informally – helping friends and colleagues get organized, hire smarter, and automate their processes. I later joined KLM Marketing and Project Management in Tempe, where I spent several years supporting small business owners with everything from email setup to CRM implementation, website development, SEO, and just about anything you can imagine in the marketing and software space.
In 2024, I decided to lean fully into what I do best and founded Kaizen Operational Strategies. “Kaizen” is a Japanese philosophy that means continuous improvement – something I’ve adopted personally by striving to get 1% better every day and now bring to every business I work with.
Today, I serve as a Fractional COO for small, service-based companies, typically in the $500K to $20M revenue range, who need experienced operational leadership but aren’t ready for a full-time executive. I work hands-on with my clients to streamline operations, lead strategic projects, recruit and onboard team members, and build systems that support sustainable growth.
I’m also a mom, so I understand how valuable time and energy are. My mission is to help business owners build businesses that work for the life they want – not the other way around. I currently work with companies across various industries, from wellness clinics and contractors to law firms and commercial cleaning companies. My goal is simple: to help business owners reclaim their time and increase their profit by improving how their business runs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road- and I don’t think entrepreneurship ever is. Like many business owners, I’ve experienced the pressure of wearing too many hats, navigating uncertain cash flow, and learning the hard way how to set boundaries around my time. Early in my career, I said yes to too many things and tried to do it all myself, which led to burning out more than once. That experience taught me one of the most valuable lessons of my career: you can’t build a scalable business without systems, support, and clarity around your role. I had to learn how to delegate, automate, and prioritize, not just for my clients, but in my own life and business.
Transitioning from running a law firm to becoming a strategic consultant came with its own challenges. I had to shift from being an expert in one highly regulated field to becoming an expert in building custom solutions across many industries. That took a lot of humility, continuous learning, and trusting my instincts.
Another challenge was pricing my value appropriately. When you’re someone who naturally takes ownership and wants to help, it’s easy to overdeliver. I’ve had to refine my service model over time to make sure it’s sustainable – not just for my business, but for the kind of life I want to live. That lesson is something I bring to every client I work with you can build a business that performs at a high level and supports your well-being.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that business is always about people. Even if you serve companies, your clients are still individuals trying to solve problems, manage teams, and take care of their own lives. Whether I’m working with a client, onboarding their employees, collaborating with a vendor, or nurturing referral partnerships, it always comes back to people. When you take care of people, your clients, your team, your network, your business thrives.
At the end of the day, I believe you can build a business that runs efficiently and feels good. One that honors your time, serves your clients deeply, and creates space for life outside of work. That’s the philosophy I live by and the one I bring to every business I support.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Kaizen Operational Strategies, I serve as a Fractional COO for small, service-based businesses that are growing fast but haven’t yet built the operational foundation they need to scale with ease. I step in to help business owners manage the back end of their business: everything from hiring, onboarding, and building out SOPs to streamlining operations, implementing CRMs, and automating their client journey.
What I do goes far beyond strategy. I specialize in execution. My clients trust me to not only identify what’s broken or inefficient in their operations, but to fix it. Whether it’s rebuilding a website, rolling out a new software tool, optimizing their pricing, or leading a hiring process, I handle the technical and logistical details that bog down so many small business owners. I’m known for bringing clarity, structure, and momentum to businesses that are overwhelmed behind the scenes but full of potential.
What sets Kaizen apart is the philosophy behind it: the belief that small, consistent improvements lead to major results. “Kaizen” is a Japanese concept that means continuous improvement, and I live that principle every day, personally and professionally. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter consulting. Every business I support gets a customized plan, tailored to their exact goals, team capacity, and growth stage.
What I’m most proud of is how deeply I care about the success of my clients. My brand is built on trust, relationships, and results. I’m not just showing up for a few strategy calls – I’m in the trenches, helping business owners implement meaningful change and reclaim their time. My goal is always to help them build a business that works for them, not the other way around.
If you’re a business owner who is maxed out, overwhelmed by your to-do list, or stuck at your current revenue plateau, Kaizen Operational Strategies offers the operational leadership you need without the full-time executive cost. We build businesses that run smoother, scale easier, and support the life you want to live.

One of my favorite frameworks is The 12 Week Year – it completely changed how I approach goal setting and execution. I took workshop on it hosted by Kenyatta Turner at Freedom Empire Consulting, where she paired it with insights from The 7 Habits of High Performing People. Since then, I’ve fully integrated the 12 Week Year into both my personal and professional life. Working in 12-week sprints helps me stay focused, prioritize what actually moves the needle, and build momentum for both myself and my clients.
I’m also a lifelong learner. I’m constantly reading, exploring new tools, and studying how different businesses operate. But honestly, I learn the most from other business owners. That’s one reason I love being part of BNI – it’s been a powerful way to build both personal and professional relationships. Hearing real stories, exchanging ideas, and staying connected to people who are actively growing their businesses keeps me sharp and inspired.
There’s no one-size-fits-all in entrepreneurship, and surrounding myself with driven, resourceful people, especially through collaborations, helps me keep evolving and doing my best work.
