Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherrie Carnicle.
Hi Sherrie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for health and fitness began at a very early age thanks to family. Mom inspired me through her commitment to home exercise videos every morning. I clearly remember her dedication as she rarely missed a day of training. Dad was a solid guy with incredible Iowa farm strength. He was a power-lifter, golden-glove boxer and paid allowance to my brother and I for doing push-ups and sit-ups every day. We were motivated by seeing him proud of us and were grateful for the extra cash simply by making ourselves stronger and healthier. By age of six, I attended my first karate class with my brother. While I enjoyed karate, I had a stronger desire to participate in gymnastics. At the time, I would watch Olympic gymnasts with complete admiration. They were strong, fit, and aesthetically beautiful athletes that I considered to be heroes. I loved being a gymnast! In middle school I explored other sports such as track, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading and continued with them into high school. and excelled. I also found a love for the gym, running, and lifting weights. Volunteering at a local gym as a “fitness assistant” at the age of 14 and cleaning the club got me a free membership. From that point, the community of the gym atmosphere felt like a second home to me. If It weren’t for the healthy outlet of fitness, sports, and the gym, I am not sure how I would have coped with some of the hardships I faced at home, mentally, and emotionally. After HS I went on to pursue my passion for fitness in college at Western Illinois University and got my degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology.
Fast forward to 2003, I became a mother and started ten months after competing in figure competitions. Competing was a large part of my life from 2004-2011. It wasn’t until after becoming a mom, completing 11 figure and bikini competitions, overcoming adrenal fatigue, working through and healing past traumas, digging deep mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, that I began to apply the holistic approach to my wellness coaching practice. The holistic approach Is a fully Integrated way of practicing a lifestyle of wellness. Through education, life experience and 20+ years as a wellness professional, I am grateful to share my success strategies to overcoming challenges and achieving optimal health and well-being.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Life has presented many challenges in my life yet I believe that’s where character and compassion were developed. As a young child I never really learned how to honor my truth and love myself as I was hyperaware of the fear and shame around me in my home life. My parents both had their own struggles which resulted in divorce and as a child who experienced trauma early, I did the best I knew how to do to navigate life. This lack of a solid mental and emotional foundation led to some poor choices and mental health issues. I had an eating disorder in high school and was addicted to exercise which later led to substance abuse in my early 20’s. I also realized that my addictions would shift to other things until I got to the root of what emotions I was trying to avoid or escape. Because of my willingness to change, perseverance, and spiritual faith I was able to get through some of these tough times. These tough times drove me to embark upon my quest for healing. In 2008 I experienced a spiritual awakening and from that year on, I have been diving deep into many different modalities of healing that have had a profound effect on my life. Through my own healing journey, I am now able to help others find the tools and empowerment to overcome their challenges holistically.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sherrie Carnicle Fitness?
I am a holistic wellness coach. Through my coaching I help people optimize their health mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Some of the ways that I am coaching people is through personal fitness training, nutrition coaching, lifestyle and habit coaching, mindset coaching, shadow work, bioenergetic healing, understanding emotional triggers and limiting beliefs and how to break through them, sound healing, meditations, corporate wellness coaching, and so much more. I believe in helping my clients become fully integrated through really connecting to their body, mind and soul. I offer in-home training, outdoor training, zoom coaching, group coaching, online coaching, What sets me apart from many other coaches is my ability to use my intuition combined with professional experience, research, and education to find the right approach to help my clients. No client is the same, therefore each client receives in individualized program that suits them best. We can go as deep as the client is willing to go or maintain coaching that is strictly surface and fitness related if that is their comfort level.
I believe we have to start somewhere and by taking action, no matter how small, that momentum will create change. I am not attached to a certain way of doing things and can be flexible in my approach. I really listen to determine the values of my clients and what is right for them to be able to achieve lasting transformation. Here is one example of a testimonial for nutritional coaching: https://www.facebook.com/sherriecarniclefitness/reviews/?ref=page_internal I signed up with Sherrie to be guided on my nutritional journey. I find Sherrie to be passionate about what she does… she does it in a manner that is so genuine that you not only want to reach your goals, but you actually do not want to disappoint her. Not that she would be disappointed because if you have any out loud, negative thoughts, she captures it, brings it to your attention in such a loving way AND teaches you how NOT to do that.
After all, our inner dialogue was created so long ago, that frankly, we are used to hearing it and typically don’t even know we are doing it. That’s just a subtle example of what she has done for me. I thought I hired a nutritionist, not a life coach, that surprised me. Sherrie listens actively and makes adjustments based on our conversations so I can maximize my way of life. My meal plans are easy and thoughtful, which I appreciate, for example, I take in more carbs on days I work out and more protein on days I don’t. Of course, it’s so much more intricate than this, but she helps me understand the science of it and why it works or why something doesn’t work. I happily and enthusiastically recommend Sherrie; she is the real thing!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
In life if we want to achieve greatness we must take risks. To get to where I am today I have taken many risks. I remember one of the most important risks I took was leaving Minnesota in 2008 during the height of the market crash, as a single mother to move to Arizona and pursue my dream of owning my own business as a wellness professional It was my dream to live in a sunny climate where the weather was warm and I work for myself doing what I love. While logically it seemed outrageous to move across the country considering the circumstances, the nudge and the vision for my success were stronger than logic therefore I honored my intuition and have not looked back since. If it weren’t for me taking that risk, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to impact the lives I have, create a beautiful business and home for my daughter and I, meet the friends I have, and enjoy the mountains as I do.
