Exploring Life & Business with Jennica Klemann of Spa Daze

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jennica Klemann.

Jennica Klemann

Hi Jennica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I had been happily working at a resort fitness center for 14 years when corporate pressured me into considering other options.

Without any business experience or management skills, I opened my first business in 2011. I was naive at the time, and I’ve learned so much since then!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I’ve had to adapt and rethink so many things over the years. There have been stressful struggles and many learning lessons, but they have all made me more resilient as an owner and a leader, so I can’t regret them too much!

One of the biggest struggles over the years, which is not exclusive to my industry, is managing staff.

Finding exceptional, reliable, and professional employees seems to get more challenging year after year. Beyond that, I would say another struggle is staying relevant and competitive when there are so many options available to our clients.

Thanks for sharing that. Would you be willing to tell us more about your business next?
Thank you for asking! Spa Daze specializes in therapeutic massage, Aromatherapy, and grief recovery. I feel that the grief recovery element of our brand sets us apart from other massage locations.

Understanding the physical and emotional effects of grief and loss and being able to hold space for someone actively enduring one of the most painful experiences of their life is not something other providers are necessarily comfortable with.

Most people know that regular day-to-day stress is damaging to our bodies, but grief is on its own level, and we want to help people through it in a way that is safe, nonjudgmental, and free of any stigmas. I’m definitely proud of my team for creating a healing space where people can let go of those intense emotions.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
One of my favorite childhood memories is when I would earn an extra allowance for massaging my dad’s neck & shoulders after dinner.

He worked in construction, and his neck and back would always bother him after a long day at work. It was so rewarding to have the ability to help him with his pain, and unbeknownst to me at the time. It would set the course for what would be my life’s path as an adult.
