Meet Suzanne Wright of Writesquared in North Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzanne Wright.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Suzanne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m lucky to live in the Southwest, where I hike the inspiring Sonoran Desert to recharge my creative batteries, and work with clients across the country to deliver powerful print and digital content.

I help my clients discover and tell their stories in compelling and concise ways that inspire engagement and results-oriented action.

Much more than just a writer, I provide creative and strategic guidance that demonstrates your thought leadership and differentiates you from your competition. Whether you need a white paper, website content, brochure, press release, email communication or a video script, I’m deeply experienced with both B2B and consumer communications across almost every industry.

I’m equally adept working with Fortune 500 companies, advertising and PR agencies, non-profits and entrepreneurs, as a seasoned professional, I am comfortable working from concept through execution, independently and as part of a larger team.

I am also the author of more than 500 bylined feature articles in highly recognized and regarded national, regional and local publications.

Before launching my freelance career in 2001, I spent 15 years in marketing, public relations, publishing and sales positions. I earned my B.A. in Communications, with a minor in Marketing from the University of West Florida. I am the former public relations manager for the Arizona Office of Tourism, publisher and editor of two national trade magazines and served as the public relations manager for a global chemical company.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Ours is an ever-changing field. All Creatives have periods of extreme activity and lulls in business.

It’s important to learn to surf the wave, so to speak. Having a rich, balanced life keep me sane and upbeat and, I think makes me a better writer.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a strategic thinker who has a solid balance of left and right brain attributes. I’m especially skilled at helping organizations rebrand and reposition products and services and synthesizing complex messaging into easily digestible and relatable communication.

What were you like growing up?
I’m a Navy brat, so I learned to adapt to other cultures–we moved every two years until I was 15–to new people, places and situations.

I’ve always been a curious, adventurous risk-taker, someone who enjoys equal measures of solitude and socialization. I wasn’t ever part of the “popular clique,” but that was okay by me. I have always been a collector of things: dolls, rocks, shells, stamps, snowdomes. I loved my microscope and I loved reading poetry under the covers with a flashlight.

I was an A student, a high achiever, but I couldn’t wait to be in the real world versus the academic one.

I was–and still am–a smart, sensitive person. I continue to color outside the lines, driven by an aesthetic that prizes beauty and freedom and creation.

  • I work by the hour, by a project rate or by retainer. Average hourly rate is $100.
