Today we’d like to introduce you to Siria Carrasco.
Hi Siria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Siria Carrasco, Mexican, I have been married for 26 years, and we have 3 sons and 2 beautiful granddaughters, I am resilient, outgoing, positive, with a strong character, I love to dance, and I am a fun and friendly woman, I try to see the good side of things and people. 8 years ago I emigrated to the United States with my husband and children, leaving behind a whole life, and family, we arrived here with high hopes, dreams, and plans, I can say that nothing has been as we planned, in part, it has been much better although not easy at all. I am an entrepreneur woman from my heart, hard-working, and very committed, I always had the thought that I could be able to do more than be in an 8-hour job until retirement, so since 2014 when we arrived here, I dedicated myself to entrepreneurship in my own sales business. I dedicated myself 100% to growing my business with many difficulties due to the competition of the product I was selling, but even so, I was doing well, I did all kinds of marketing, and I was even on a radio show with my husband who is a professional announcer, my family and I got ahead with a lot of effort in this great country of opportunities.
In 2018 everything changed from one day to the next, we found out that my father had cancer, and 1 month later… the doctors detected a tumor in my spine at the level of the neck inside the spinal cord… at the beginning of 2019 my father past away at 61 years old, leaving a tremendous pain in my heart, I’m still grieving his untimely lost, in April of that same year 2019 I had a big surgery that lasted 8 hours to remove the tumor that was in stage II of cancer, after surgery I spent 30 days in a recovery hospital, my mother came from Mexico to be with me who took turns with my husband to be with me in the hardest month that I lived there, are not even words to describe it, when I left the hospital I received radiation for another 2 months. At the end of 2019, everything in our lives was in chaos. My husband had to start working in construction over time, I was in a wheelchair, without being able to walk, with a syndrome called Brown Sequard, a semi-paralytic condition on my entire left side. You can’t imagine how I felt after all that. Before my surgery I was such a woman active, I took 2 years of physical therapy, and at the same time I started a new challenge in the networking business from home, because I needed to feel that my life was not over, working hard on my mindset so as not to give up, I continued to have my sales business that I started in 2014, although the earnings were not compared to those I had before the surgery, since my job before was to attend my clients in person, now I only attend them remotely by shipping sales.
In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic and my situation, I worked with a Network marketing company with health products that also helped me a lot in my recovery and to improve my energy, in April 2021 I had the honor to received an award from the Association of LatinAmerican Entrepreneurs in Arizona As an “Outstanding Entrepreneur”, I have always done everything possible to get ahead and live just day by day, the health condition I have is very uncomfortable because I have 70% of my body numbness like an anesthetized patient, in addition to intense pain due to neuropathy and although the doctors did not give a good prognosis, I can now stand up and walk a few steps with a walker, most of the time I have to be seated or in a wheelchair, and my sons and my husband are my great support at home, but it can be said that I have made progress in my recovery thanks to my willpower and determination, I challenge myself and give 101% in everything I do, I have always liked help people and despite what I was throughout, I love still doing it, I believe in the attraction law, I have faith in the energy of the Universe and a God as my higher self and I know that if you have a positive mind and a resilient attitude good things and good people come to you no matter what, I am an honest person and I really like to practice empathy with my peers, I know that there is a purpose and that everything has happened for a good reason, finally in August of last year the business that I always dreamed of came into my life, I am a lover of travel, so this already It was destined for me, since 1 year ago I started my new career as a certified Travel Agent, now I have my online Travel Agency “Siriamar Travels” and I help my clients booking their trips worldwide, which is something I love to do, and I also work supporting other entrepreneurs to become Certified Agents just like me, I do it from home or anywhere with my most powerful tool, my cell phone and social media!
I already went a month ago to an international Agents convention and now I know that despite being in a wheelchair, there are amazing places that are waiting for me to visit. Thank you for the opportunity that your magazine gives me to make my message known. I would like to tell people that despite any circumstance if we do not give up, we are capable of doing wonderful things and seeing our dreams come true.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road at all, on the contrary, it has been full of obstacles.
The first thing has been the language, I did not know how to speak English when I got here, I studied for 1 year at college actually I still took private online classes, also to start my business I had to make my way through a very difficult community, Latinos. Although we are a very beautiful community, envy is always present unfortunately, there are a bunch of individuals who do not like to see that someone is standing out, and I had very little support from my own people.

My first business which I already have 8 years is about sales of health products mainly for weight loss, by which I was been recognized in my community as an Authorized Distributor of the Elv Alipotec Raiz de Tejocote brand, I was a pioneer with this product, the first person to sell it in the entire State of Arizona, I had the Distribution center at the State level with wholesale sales for 2 years with more than 20 Distributors under my charge. To this day I continue to distribute the product but only in retail sales. My clients continue to recommend my customer service and personalized advice and my product because it is 100% natural and effective. I love seeing the results in people and how they change their lives and improve their health.
Apart from 1 year ago, I have an Online Travel Agency affiliated with a Host company with all the necessary licenses so that travelers have the peace of mind to book their trips. As a certified travel agent, I am responsible for all the details and I make packages tailored to the client with flight reservations, hotel, tour, car rental, and transportation, I specialize in vacations to any destination but also corporate trips, weddings, religious trips, and sports. I also specialize in travel advisors for special needs. I offer a free quote and I am dedicated to following up on my clients’ trips from start to finish. I love what I do, I always try to keep up to date with training and updates on the tourism industry, I have direct contact with the most recognized suppliers in the industry at an international level, I am also a mentor, and I really enjoy supporting and helping other people who also want to become Travel Agents, which is why I am always looking for entrepreneurs to offer them this great opportunity.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about the place where I live is the cleanliness and easy transit of its streets, the tranquility of the neighborhood where I live is incomparable, in general, I really like living here, it is a beautiful place. I also like that there are very friendly people. What I don’t like so much is the extreme summer weather, and that there are many homeless people living on the streets.
