Meet Elyse Meyer of Prism Global Marketing Solutions in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elyse Meyer.

Elyse, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Prism Global Marketing Solutions, an inbound marketing agency, 5 years ago this coming August. Prior to founding the agency, I worked in various industries with companies ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 organizations all in roles focused on marketing and sales. My experience focused on all aspects of marketing including both digital and traditional.

In my two roles immediately prior to starting the agency, I focused almost exclusively on implementing a cohesive inbound and digital marketing strategy. It was by doing this that I saw how dramatically an effective inbound and digital marketing plan can benefit an organization from all aspects including: branding, lead generation, customer marketing, lead nurturing, and much more. I was able to see the direct benefit of content marketing and inbound marketing on the bottom line. It was by doing this that I recognized a need for inbound marketing for organizations of all sizes. As I started to see this larger need and the scarcity (at the time), of agencies supporting inbound marketing exclusively, I knew it was a good time to consider starting my own business to support these organizations looking to implement inbound marketing as part of their marketing strategy.

I always wanted to start my own business, but did not think I would start it as early as I did in my career to be honest. I was 28 when I started Prism Global Marketing Solutions. Some may think it’s a little bit crazy to start a company at that age, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! It was the right time for me given how quickly the marketing industry was changing, and my knowledge on the concept and implementation of inbound marketing as it was starting to become a much more common term in the industry.

I initially started consulting with startups, small businesses and non-profits. I love working with those organizations because they are generally very open to new concepts, and inbound marketing can be a cost effective solution to help them grow their brand. As the business started to grow, I also began to work with more companies focused in the healthcare space, which is what my background was early in my career. Since then, the business has grown quite a bit in the last five years. My husband joined the company full-time in 2015, and we have a small team of digital marketing experts, developers, and graphic designers. We also partner with technology and software companies such as HubSpot, an inbound marketing platform, and have seen growth from our business by partnering with strategic organizations that share the same vision that we do to help companies grow.

In the last few years, we have won several awards as an agency from HubSpot, the American Marketing Association, Arizona Interactive Marketing Association, and also individually including 35 Under 35 Entrepreneurs in Arizona, 4 Under 40 Marketers from the American Marketing Association, and Top Inbound Marketing Consultant of 2017 by Corporate Vision Magazine in the UK. I’m proud to see how Prism has grown over the last 5 years, and cannot wait to see how we can continue to learn, grow and help our clients in years to come.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think one of the biggest challenges in managing growth. As a solo entrepreneur in the beginning, it was difficult to scale as an individual, even though I had big plans for the company. My husband joined the company full-time in 2015 because we saw the continued need for inbound marketing across organizations not only in the US, but around the globe. As we saw more opportunities to help these companies who were looking for a new way to market their business, we thought it was in the best interest of the business, and also for our family, to start to work together to grow the agency collectively. And growth is always a challenge, and something that always needs to be managed. I find it’s a balance between growing the agency, growing your team, and growing your skillset, while understanding the continued need for balance between work and family.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Prism Global Marketing Solutions – what should we know?
Prism Global Marketing Solutions is an inbound marketing agency and HubSpot Platinum Partner. We work with organizations to build cohesive digital strategies that focus on marketing, sales alignment, and the customer experience. We do this through a blend of marketing automation, lead generation, content marketing, social media, paid media, influencer marketing, and marketing analytics. Our agency partners with software companies such as HubSpot, Wistia, Seventh Sense, HotJar, and many others, to provide a technology stack that delivers enhanced performance, analytics and automation to streamline the marketing, sales and customer experience process.

We work primarily with enterprise healthcare, technology and higher education organizations. In addition, we have a segment of our business that partners with startups, small businesses and non-profits. We are known for building and implementing integrated digital marketing plans, while remaining agile to our client’s needs, and our high level of customer satisfaction. When we work with our clients, we are truly an extension of their team. We don’t like to think of ourselves as a vendor, but as a strategic partner.

As a company, I am most proud of how we have scaled the business over the last 5 years. I feel that we have grown strategically so we can best support our existing clients and new clients, while continuing to grow and develop our team. I am also proud of some of our recent awards, particularly various HubSpot Impact Awards, as they focus on client success stories and outcomes directly tied to revenue growth for our clients. In addition, these awards are highly competitive with agencies submitting their client stories from around the globe.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I want to thank my parents, Joanne and Steve Flynn. They have been huge supporters of me throughout my life, but also in my career and starting my business. Both of them owned their own businesses, so their support, knowledge and encouragement were incredibly helpful both personally and professionally as I embarked on this sometimes crazy journey of becoming an entrepreneur. Recently, my mom and I also wrote a book focused on personal branding. It will be launching at the end of this year.

I also want to thank my husband. He was very supportive of me starting my own business in 2013. Also having him join the business a few years later has been wonderful not only for the business, but for our family. Now that we have a daughter, it is wonderful to work together and support each other as parents and as business owners.
