Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Holper.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
14 years ago I got into a very serious car accident where I had broken 9 bones and had to learn how to walk again over the period of about a year and a half. The accident created a great deal of residual health & pain management issues. Years later, after I completed my degree I continued to work in the corporate world for an investment firm until some health issues got a bit more serious & rendered me unable to work. It was at this time I experienced a great deal of transformation through the use of life coaching, hypnotherapy and nutrition. It was during this time that I was inspired to follow that path professionally, and I set my sights on a degree in holistic wellness.
I have been in business for roughly 3.5 years. For the first year, I only practiced very part-time due to being pregnant with our 2nd child and then having the new baby during that time. Following that things picked up very quickly and I went to working full-time over the period of about 1 month. The last couple years I have brought me some amazing opportunities! I am humbled and inspired daily by the transformation people are capable of with these modalities and I feel incredibly blessed to both witness that and work in a career that I feel aligns 100% with my passions and gifts.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’d say my road has had its smooth and bumpy times. The overall success I’ve experienced has actually been quite smooth. This is what I have been incredibly humbled by as I know the first few years is typically a slower progression for most practitioners in my field. Business picked up very quickly for me and has stayed quite consistent as well.
As for the bumpy portions that has been more in the way of learning the best ways to always show up in 110% integrity & authenticity in all areas of my life. As a practitioner and entrepreneur, this was quite different from my previous jobs/career. This work is a huge part of who I am and therefore is not something I turn on or off. Because of that, I have to work very mindfully to balance my home, personal, spiritual, and work life due to the fact that when one of these isn’t being honored, it throws off everything else pretty significantly (more significantly than my pre-practitioner days).
I also have to confess that all responsibilities that come with being an entrepreneur have proven to be a little bumpy at times. Learning what to hand-over to others, when your brand is so important to you, is certainly a lesson in learning/having some faith. All in all, it has been an absolutely breathtaking journey and I wouldn’t change a second of it. It has become part of who I am and I love that!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the EleMental Healing & Coaching story. Tell us more about the business.
My Specialty is ultimately in taking clients from feeling Stuck or Fearful with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and Addictions to overcoming those limitations and experiencing Freedom and Empowerment. I do this through the use of Advanced Empowerment Life Coaching, Deep (Transpersonal) Hypnosis, Advanced (Clinical) Hypnotherapy as well as utilizing some knowledge and formal training in Aromatherapy and Holistic Nutrition. My focus and passion is predominantly on women, specifically those who take care of other (moms, caregivers, healers, practitioners etc.).
I’d say what sets my practice aside from other practitioners in my area is similar to what I am known for which is my deep-dive approach. My sessions average 2 to 2.5 hours and I like to get the root of what will allow us to move forward – and do just that – in the very first session. Each session draws out the client’s inner wisdom through coaching and applies it to foster optimal results. We utilize the information from coaching & integrate it (along with my other modalities) into each hypnotherapy session. Each experience is fully customized to the individual and because of that, the very first session is enough in some cases (particularly with smoking).
Another thing I am ‘known for’ and feel good about is my success rate in working with those struggling to overcome problem habits and addictions (specifically weight management and smoking). I am proud to report that it is at 100% for the vast majority of those areas. I believe a big portion of this is because we address ‘the why’ and benefit of what the behavior has been providing you mentally/emotionally/physically. We then take what YOU feel will work best for you to do/feel in place of that and integrate it into the hypnotherapy. Ultimately those sessions look quite similar to emotional release sessions the vast majority of the time since that is what those habits/addictions do for the vast majority of us.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My personal feeling is that luck (whether good or bad) is subjective and all about interpretation. I like to think I have good luck but I tend to be an optimist, During the times that I felt I was suffering from bad luck, I found my outlook was focused on all the undesirable details of circumstances. What we look at is what we experience. When I began looking at what I perceive to be undesirable, as growth opportunities, I began to see them as such. Therefore I would say the realization that I tend to perpetuate my own luck, has been what’s played a big role in my business (in regards to this subject).
