Hidden Gems: Meet Jane Applegath of Epic Vision Zone

Hi Jane, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Have you ever stopped to wonder where your life’s path is leading? Have you unearthed your calling, and come across your purpose? Bumped into a dream and forsaken it for something less? Do you get the feeling that there’s MORE waiting for you, but it hasn’t found you…yet. Well, I get it because I’ve been there.

What I’ve learned over the years is that it’s true that we all want to know how to get to live our best life. Despite the barriers we all know exist, the real hurdle is how do we champion our transformation when we fear change? Yet we can agree it’s true that the greatest transformation comes from experiencing the unknown. That’s why, to achieve the goal, we need to create a future vision so powerful it catapults us out of fear and into action to discover life’s gilded path.

I’m one of several children born from the cultural fusion of a Canadian Dad and a Mexican Mom. I joke that that’s the reason my left and right brains get along so famously well. I’ve lived across the North American continent, living my younger years in Canada, my teenage years in Mexico, and my adult years in the USA. I’m now a dual US/Canadian citizen who calls Arizona home. The change was my constant buddy or nemesis depending on which way the wind was blowing. And it blew a lot.

Storytelling and entrepreneurship have stirred my blood and intoxicated my imagination for as long as I can remember. As a former award-winning financial advisor, turned TV producer, creative script writer, yoga instructor, and certified VUCA Instructor, I know first-hand the power of reimaging possibility.

An avid researcher and neuroscience enthusiast, I’ve come to learn that we all have the capability for so much MORE. Ask yourself: “If my life were an epic story; what would the title be?” Discovering the truth about your epic vision, will get your heart racing, and your imagination firing, and make inaction impossible. Because when your mind joins forces with your body, you’ve placed yourself firmly in the driver’s seat of the life you desire. That’s the moment you know what MORE feels like. And now you’ve discovered the place where your new story begins.

My passion is inspiring women to boldly grow into a new tomorrow, to revisit a forgotten adventure or a once-upon-a-time dream. Using the VUCA MAX strategies of Vision, Understanding, Clarity, and Adaptability, I guide clients into a space of energized creativity and focus, where they experience being in the “zone” of brilliant self-leadership, the kind that ignites an adrenaline-charged experience that compels them to act on their future vision. How I accomplish this is two-fold:

I’m the founder of the Epic Vision Zone, an exciting video podcast show created to inspire women to leadership and entrepreneurial greatness. We bring the very best life and business programming from around the globe that celebrates the journey and ingenuity of female (and male) entrepreneurs, coaches, authors, and more while providing an engaged community and resources for women founders. Streaming on YouTube and all major podcast platforms, my aspiration is to uplevel the way women perceive their potential and imagine their future. We like to say, “It’s epic inspiration delivered straight to the hearts of ambitious female forgers looking to build the freedom lifestyle and business they’ve always dreamed of.”

As a Creative Intelligence Coach, and licensed VUCA MAX. Instructor my mission is to help female leaders, entrepreneurs, and women who are ready for MORE, acquire the mindset to create a vision so powerful it catapults them out of fear and into action to discover their life’s gilded path.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Failure, I’ve learned, is like fertilizer. I’ve taken two steps forward and three back. Did I know what I wanted to do with my life at age 20, 30, 40, or 50? Heck no. But I dipped my toe into the waters of umpteen industries from finance to filmmaking and spirituality, and perhaps that is exactly what was supposed to happen for me to get to where I am today. Was I frustrated at times, you bet!

Was I discouraged and lost, heck yes. Did I question my abilities, my mindset, and my worth? Yes, yes, and yes! Here’s the thing, if we fall, we can always choose to get up. I’m not saying it’s easy, but know it’s doable, Maybe it’ll take time, and that’s okay. Give yourself the grace to fail and the grit to succeed and one day, not too far away, you will spread your wings and fly.

Networking and finding a mentor can have a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In our new virtual world, I’ve found some amazing individuals through my podcast interviews and social media. The key to building your network is establishing a rapport with like-minded people. Coaching programs that resonate with you are a great way to connect with like-minded people that have the same aspirations. Instagram is my go-to social media platform and I’ve met and connected with many individuals there.

LinkedIn has been great for professional connections. My advice is “don’t be afraid to ask” for whatever it is you’re looking for. I’ve had some amazing guests on my podcast simply because I asked. I was taught that the worst they can say is “No”, because nothing ventured, nothing gained.
