Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Reynolds.
Brooke, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve always had a love for photography, but never really thought I’d have a photography business. I got a cheaper Canon Rebel camera for myself, when my son was 1.5 (he’s 6 now) so I could capture all of his “firsts.” It wasn’t until I started playing around with the settings and using my kids as models, that I realized, “wow, I’m pretty good at this, and I love it. “I’ve gone through lots of seasons with my photography passion. I get discouraged, encouraged, inspired, un-inspired; but at the end of the day, I can’t ever see myself without my camera, ever. For me, photography just kind of happened, like it came into my life for a reason, and in 60 years, when I want to look back, or when my kids want to look back, maybe that will be the reason.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a photographer. The only way to capture raw, organic moments as they happen, in still, is my photography. I create everlasting memories for people to cherish longer than a lifetime. What I’ve taken away from being a photographer is just that; these are moments that this family/person will never get back. These are moments that they will cherish and gaze upon for years. I always try to express the importance of pictures to people. You really don’t understand how important pictures are, until it is all you have left.
How can artists connect with other artists?
As an artist that is starting out, it can be intimidating and lonely, for many reasons. You need to put yourself out there. Connect with local artists. Message them, tell them you’re new to the industry and would like a creative friend to connect with. When I first started photography, I had no photography friends, and now, 99% of my friends are photographers, and as a result, I’ve grown immensely in my knowledge. A confident artist won’t look at you as competition.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
