We recently had the chance to connect with Trained4life D Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Hi D, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my days usually starts with a light stretch followed by praying. After that I sit and express my gratitude for all of the blessings I have in my life. If I only had the things I had wished for, I would be a poor broken man. Prayer and reflection help me understand my journey and my blessings that were afforded to me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dujhan Brown. I am an actor, voice over artist and current law enforcement officer. What makes me or (my brand) interesting is that I don’t fit the social norm. I have an IMDb, I have an agent, I enjoy the arts but I love the integrity and honor of my career.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest moment of feeling powerful was in high school. I had participated in a program called “every 15 minutes”. In this program a fake “car accident” was created and you played a “victim” so to speak. The program was created to create awareness in reference to drunk driving accidents. While playing the “victim” they took you from your home and family and had you write a letter to whoever you wanted to. I felt empowered because a, I felt the great responsibility I had to prevent such heinous acts from happening and b, I realized that all choices large and small were mine and I could choose my own path on my terms. I could charter my own boat to success. Everyday I got older.. I realized it was a blessing.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Everyday failure strikes me in the forehead. Everyday I question why I don’t have the “success” that I perceived myself to have. I then remember that we each have our own “space” and that consistency is key.. whether I want to or not.. I won’t quit until my name is etched in my gravestone. My vision, my beliefs, my success is here and there waiting for me because it is mine and nobody else’s.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I can’t be fake. I fail, I succeed, I get angry, I get sad. I’m human. There’s too much time invested in creating a facade.. just be you.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I have 10 years left.. I would stop overthinking everything and take more calculated risks. Regret minimization is big on my mind but, I have other people depending on me so I have to think about the team at all times.
