We recently had the chance to connect with Savannah Hendricks and have shared our conversation below.
Savannah, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
As silly as it sounds, I recently finished a 2,000 piece puzzle. Normally I do 500 to 1,00o piece puzzles and I wanted to give up so badly. It was not the best print quality so it was a challenge beyond the piece count. So many times I wanted to just put it back in the box, but I would never forgive myself for giving up. And, I finally got the last piece in and was really proud that I didn’t stop.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Savannah is a multi-genre, award-winning author. Readers can find something special in each of her humorously wholesome romances, heartfelt coming of age/women’s fiction, and meaningful children’s picture books, all while helping dogs! Annually, 10% of the proceeds from all of Savannah’s books go to a local dog rescue organization. Because READING IS BETTER WITH A DOG.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I lost my mom at age 15 I began to look at the world differently. It’s an ever changing view, that is affected by the actions of others and how I respond to those actions. I think aging allows for continued discovery of how we feel in the world and how it shapes us.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Failing. I believe that failure is more powerful than most emotions and can affect us in big and small ways. We may not try a recipe because we don’t want to fail, and we can also not go after a new job for the same reason. Both are vastly different on how they effect our lives but both a possible failure. I know it’s common to say fear, but for me it’s not about fear, because I can fear something and still do it, but failure can happen even if you’re not fearful to do it.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My late mother. She was always happy and cheerful even when going through life-changing occurrences. She never complained even when she had every right to do so. I often forget about how much she overcame and how strong she was when I complain or worry about something far less important. She always impresses me, even through memories.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m out in nature, either going for walk, a high, or even just weeding my gardnen.
