Story & Lesson Highlights with Miss HALEY MAHANNAH

Miss HALEY MAHANNAH shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi HALEY, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?

I lose track of time when I’m immersed in art—whether it’s crafting a hair design, experimenting with makeup, curating personal style, painting on canvas, or simply getting lost in the work of other artists. There’s something grounding about the creative process; it pulls me inward while connecting me outward. It’s not just creating—it’s a sense of restored harmony.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am an independent hairdresser and creative based in Camp Verde/Sedona, Arizona. I work out of Crown & Canvas, a space where beauty and artistry meet. My work blends hair design with storytelling—whether I’m crafting a custom-designed cut, refining personal style, or sharing and honoring our journeys.

What makes my work unique is the way I approach beauty as a form of connection. I’m passionate about creating inclusive spaces where people feel seen, celebrated, and restored. My brand is more than a service—it’s a testimony. I’m currently focused on refining my business operations, engaging with the local community, and using digital platforms to share both my craft and my story.

Whether it’s through hair design, heartfelt outreach, or creative expression, I’m here to make people feel beautiful—inside and out.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?

The relationship that has shaped me most is my faith. It’s been my anchor & safe harbor through every wave of life, preserving me. My personal reflections and spiritual growth are not just part of my journey—they’re the foundation of who I am. Faith reminds me that identity isn’t built on perfection, but on purpose.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized it’s part of the human experience—inevitable, layered, and sometimes lingering. Some pain arrives quietly, and some hits so deafeningly it shifts your entire being. But every kind of pain builds character. It invites a choice: to become bitter, or to push against the negativity and grow through it.

What changed for me was understanding that I’m not alone. Everyone carries something. Pain doesn’t come with a hierarchy—mine isn’t greater or lesser than anyone else’s. It’s all real. And in that shared reality, I found strength. I began to see pain not as a weakness to hide, but as a testimony to share. That shift turned my wounds into wisdom and my story into a source of power.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The cultural value I protect at all cost is dignity. Every person deserves to be seen, heard, and honored—regardless of gender, background, belief, or circumstance. I believe in creating spaces where people feel safe to be their full selves, without fear of judgment or exclusion.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I’d fight hatred with beauty, truth, humility and wisdom. Not with noise, but with unwavering light. I’d confront systems that thrive on division and build bridges where others burned them. Because even with forever ahead of me, the work of restoration is never finished—it just deepens.
