Story & Lesson Highlights with Melissa Jones

We recently had the chance to connect with Melissa Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Melissa , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start my day with an early workout at 4am (fueled by nothing but a banana and a splash of crazy lol).

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a published fitness model, mental health advocate, trauma informed life coach, guest speaker & podcast host of the Getting Soul Fit Podcast, a self improvement podcast created to help others overcome challenges & trauma to thrive in life.
After battling and overcoming drug addiction, eating disorders, alcoholism and trauma, I have made it my mission to help others break free from toxic cycles and rise.
No stranger to starting over, I have been sober since jan 1, 2011, smoke free since Jan of 2021 and I broke free from an abusive relationship in 2020.
I had to almost die to truly start to live and I believe in living a fuck yes life. I love helping others find their voice, stop the negative cycles holding them back.
Fitness has been key in my life and I enjoy showing others how to incorporate it into theirs.
If you would like to learn more or connect with me please be sure to give me a follow and checkout my podcast Getting Soul Fit with Melissa Paige on ITunes or Spotify.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Honestly as a child I was a big dreamer! However, I doubted myself a lot. I believe we can literally be anything we want to be with a little bit of faith and action.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I almost gave up in 2010. I was heavily in my addiction at the time and couldn’t see a way out of it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
We are not responsible for trauma that may have happened to us. However, healing is our responsibility.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop being so hard on myself (currently working on this- perfectionist)
