Story & Lesson Highlights with Karen Cummings of Queen Creek

Karen Cummings shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Karen, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Watching my 7 year old son teach my 4 year old daughter how to do her little preschool exercises warmed my heart and made me so proud! He was patient, kind and such a good teacher. Me and my husband must be doing something right! 😆

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I started Radiant Marketing ten years ago (we’re celebrating our 10 year anniversary in October!) and couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve created. In addition to doing fantastic, impactful client work we’re shifting the paradigm of agency (and work) life to prioritize health, balance and joy. Our vision? To create a ripple effect of wellness.

We’ve aligned with incredible health & wellness brands to increase their revenue and impact through powerful branding, quality lead generation and empowered sales teams.

We value creativity and results equally – creating campaigns that are both innovative & visually engaging and actually moving the needle for clients.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The first thing that came to mind was when I was in elementary school and I would create these elaborate ‘adventures’ for my younger sister and her best friend. I would create clues and activities for them to complete to win a prize and they loved it – and I loved creating it. I felt so empowered by my creativity, imagination and ability to create joyful experiences for others.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The challenges we face in life are often what makes us who we are. How one-dimensional we’d be if we never had to overcome!

When we learn to face difficulties head on, to do hard things, we learn so much about ourselves. As I continue on my own self-discovery journey (supported by incredible coaches over the years), I’ve learned that from our suffering we learn survival habits that keep us going. Those habits serve us – until they don’t. If we are able to reflect and identify these clearly we can see both the good in them to carry forward, and the pieces we can leave behind.

Trauma means different things to different people, but if we’re brave enough to face that head on we learn how incredibly strong and truly incredible we are.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
That nearly everything we believe can be changed with perspective.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I touched their lives in a positive way. That I helped them see the best in themselves and empowered them to be their real, authentic selves.
