Story & Lesson Highlights with Judita Griffin of Phoenix Metro area

Judita Griffin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Judita, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m unsure about responding correctly, but I’ve sensed an intuitive calling towards healing. Fear once constrained me, but I felt guided toward Traditional Chinese Medicine, recognizing the unity of body, mind, and spirit. I have discovered my passion in this therapeutic art.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I launched Total Wellness Acupuncture in July 2015, initially operating a large practice with three treatment rooms. However, the Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacted my practice, forcing me to close temporarily for about a year due to health issues. After recovering and reopening in a smaller space, I furthered my education with a doctoral degree from Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture and three level certification in neuro-acupuncture from Neuro-Acupuncture Institute. This specialized training enables me to effectively address various neurological disorders, including stroke recovery, cerebral palsy, neuropathy, hydrocephalus, complex regional pain, and more.
My practice encompasses a range of treatments, including acupuncture,Gua Sha, cupping, electro-acupuncture, low laser therapy, Tui Na( Chinese body work), Qi Gong, and etc. I’ve created Extended treatment packages merging acupuncture with relevant modalities, delivering affordable and personalized care on a one-on-one basis.
I specialize in treating pediatric patients with cerebral palsy, including severe paralysis, focusing on spasticity alleviation and comfort enhancement.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Since childhood, teachers and doctors have had a profound impact on my life, leaving lasting impressions. The financial difficulties resulting from the Soviet occupation of Lithuania  meant I couldn’t study medicine, so I became a teacher instead- a role that brought me great joy. After moving to America, I was able to pursue my dreams in holistic medicine and became a licensed acupuncturist. Prof. Dan Bedgood  significantly influenced my medical school journey, supervising my internship and fostering faith in my abilities and intuition in Traditional Chinese medicine, thereby enhancing my professional confidence. I remain grateful for his mentorship and its lasting impact.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I experienced a challenging childhood and adolescence marked by health issues, bullying, and other difficulties, which left me feeling vulnerable and fragile. If I could offer guidance to my younger self, I would say:” You’re cherished, never surrender, strive for excellence, and let go of the rest.”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I firmly believe in a higher power as the Creator, Universal Consciousness, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. I am convinced that each of us has a specific purpose in life and that we are here to learn valuable lessons. Our destinies are unique, and when I faced struggles in my youth I questioned God’s plan, often asking “WHY” and harbouring doubts. However, my perspective shifted dramatically after a near-death experience. At that moment, I distinctly heard the words “it’s not your time; you have a purpose”. I believe I’m fulfilling my purpose by helping people in my practice and striving to become a better person. Although I feel God’s presence in my life, I understand that it is challenging to prove this to someone who does not share my faith.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
During my temporary one year absence due to Covid-19, my patients struggled to find a practitioner who provided a comprehensive approach, combining acupuncture with multiple complementary modalities in a single treatment sesion.
Each acupuncturist is defined by distinct competencies. With time our regular patients develop trust in us .They share with us not only their deepest body and emotional struggles, but joyful life moments. If I were to retire tomorrow, disrupting established therapeutic relationships, would profoundly impact both patients and myself.
