We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jeremy Schachter. Check out our conversation below.
Jeremy, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I am an early riser, so my morning routine usually starts around 5am.
I start by a full glass of colder water and then a few cups of coffee. I usually go online and read financial news as well as current events. Once that is done, I check my work email and look at my calendar.
I am a big fan of Orange Theory and go every morning. It jump starts my day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jeremy Schachter and I am a Branch Manager at Fairway Independent Mortgage. I run a small boutique branch in Central Phoenix. I manage a branch with several employees as well as originating mortgage loans. I have been in this industry for 25+ yrs.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My Father taught the meaning of work to me from a very early age. He taught high school for inner city students for over 35+ yrs. He commuted an hour and a half each way even in the snow for 35 yrs. He also worked summer school to afford to take my Brother and I on vacations each year.
I started working early on with my Father and his best friend on weekends to earn extra money. I recall I was 14 or 15 at that time.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I lost both of my parents in 2023. My Father passed away two months before my Mother. They were married for 40+ yrs.
The loss of a parent is hard. But losing both nearly two months apart is the worst. You lose something you never can get back and was the hardest thing I ever went through.
Those losses changed the way I look at life now. I don’t take things too seriously anymore and focus on moments and memories rather than material items.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
There are a lot of egos in my industry. I always say leave the ego at the door. My mantra is treating people the way you want to be treated. It is a simple statement but so very true. I love to get involved with my community at large, especially nonprofits.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story that people say is that I loved life and people around me. I truly love different cultures, upbringings, religions and backgrounds. Diversity is huge in my huge. I want to understand how different people’s childhoods have shaped their lives.
I am loyal and a good friend to many.
