We recently had the chance to connect with Craig Peterman and have shared our conversation below.
Craig, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Most days are pretty simple. Coffee, headphones on, and I’m in the edit. Culling, color, a few photos that need extra love, then exports rolling while I answer inquiries. If it is a video day, I’m syncing audio and shaping the story until its perfect.
The rest is backend: galleries updated, invoices and contracts squared away, a quick look at ads and SEO so couples can actually find us, file naming so future me doesn’t swear at past me. I’ll drop a couple notes for my team, queue a preview or two, and call it. Not glamorous, but it keeps the work clean and the client experience smooth.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Im dedicated to capturing moments that tell a deeper story, where each image reflects not only the beauty of the day but also the soul of the experience. With a passion for creating meaningful, lasting memories and a devotion to unparalleled client service, my approach to luxury Arizona wedding photography and videography is all about blending artistry with impact.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe there was a magic “adult switch” you got around 18. One morning you’d wake up craving black coffee, understanding taxes, and knowing exactly what to do next. I am still waiting on the switch.
What actually happens is a series of tiny upgrades. You Google a form, text a friend who is oddly good at spreadsheets, label a folder like a responsible person, and remember to bring snacks. You figure out the next right thing, then repeat. The wins are small and strangely satisfying; fixing a leaky sink, negotiating a bill, keeping a plant alive. Somewhere along the way you realize adulthood is less about certainty and more about momentum. You keep moving, you keep learning, and the coffee starts to taste better because you earned it.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell him this: you’re not late to anything, so breathe. Spend less energy trying to look ready and more on getting curious, doing the reps, and asking better questions. Find people who are kind and competent, then learn how they think. Save a little every month, even when it feels small. Take care of your body and your sleep; both are cheat codes. Call home, say thank you often, and forgive faster so your mind stays light. Most of the big breaks arrive dressed as ordinary Tuesdays, so show up, pay attention, and keep moving toward the next honest step.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The next piece of gear will change everything. That is the lie. New cameras are multipliers, not engines; they make good taste and clean process more efficient, but they cannot create either. The careers that last are built on consistency, fast replies, thoughtful guidance, and work that is honest. If you want a true upgrade, refine your eye, your client experience, and your relationships. Business will follow that, not the spec sheet.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Early mornings, before the inbox wakes up. The house is quiet; coffee warms my hands; desert light starts to move across the kitchen; I make a short list and breathe. I feel it again when I fall into a clean edit, headphones on, time slipping in the best way. And late at night after a shoot, gear packed, files backed up, windows cracked on the drive home, knowing the story is safe and the day is complete.
