Sorry X’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sorry X. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Sorry X, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Who are you learning from right now?
I’m currently on my first national tour opening for Twiztid and it’s been a truly amazing experience. I love getting to perform every night and meet so many people across the country, it’s a gift. I’m really learning so much from the Twiztid camp, from myself and how I respond in high pressure situations, and from my band who is constantly believing in me and pushing me to reach my fullest potential.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alexa and I am a heavy rock vocalist and songwriter under the artist name Sorry X. I started this project by recording myself on an $80 microphone with GarageBand and releasing it on SoundCloud. I’m currently working on finishing my debut album and I’m incredibly excited to share it with the world!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I’ve always been an absolute goofball and “class clown”. From a very early age I always wanted to make people laugh, even if it was at my own expense. I’ve often felt like I didn’t fit in, but now that’s my strength.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been many times that I’ve thought about giving up. Pursuing a music career has been incredibly difficult at times, but also so rewarding. I recall watching a John Legend video where he said something along the lines of “It only takes one yes to change your life” and I often remind myself of that. Plus, my favorite song to listen to when I’m having a tough day is “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)”!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say that my true character and heart shines through my project which is what is most important to me, but Sorry X is a heightened badass version of myself. I’m more laidback and private in my daily life. Plus, I’m very giggly and I think people do not expect that.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I had somewhat of a crisis last year on my birthday and really struggled to accept that everything we know is temporary, including my own mortality. It sent me into somewhat of a spiral but I’d like to think now that I’m less afraid. I read online someone had said “You should be grateful you’re here reading this and asking the right questions, so that you can get the chance to live your life to the fullest. Many people don’t even get to this point” and that struck something in me. I find beauty in the little things every single day and I hope to help others find that beauty as well.
