Rising Stars: Meet Robert Cole Jr of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Cole Jr.

Hi Robert, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in Southern California, where music was always part of my life. My three older brothers are all musicians, and some of my earliest memories are of us playing Guitar Hero together and watching American Idol as a family. I eventually joined a band with two of my brothers, and those years taught me how to collaborate, perform, and connect with people through music. In 2016, I moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University, which meant leaving the band behind. Since then, I’ve kept my passion alive by streaming on TikTok Live, posting covers and original songs, and growing a supportive community of over 14,000 followers in just nine months. My biggest goal right now is to play “I Left My Heart in Scandinavia” (Scandinavia for short) with the Jonas Brothers, a dream that’s been driving me and keeping me motivated to keep sharing my music with the world. I aim to achieve this by playing and posting to TikTok, a cover of Scandinavia everyday until their concert on 9/28. I am 46 days in and there will be 93 videos when the campaign is over.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. Recording and posting the covers is the easy part, but the real challenge has been the networking, engaging with people, finding more Jonas Brothers fans to share my music with, and rallying the troops to help my campaign get noticed. I’m constantly racking my brain to come up with new ways to promote my campaign. It’s been an obstacle, but one that’s actually been fun to tackle because it’s connected me with so many amazing people along the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter and musician, and one of the things I’m most known for is my campaign to play Scandinavia with the Jonas Brothers, a deep-cut fan favorite that has never been performed live. On my TikTok page, @robertcolejr__4, I share a mix of covers, original songs, and live streams, all while rallying a growing community to help make this goal a reality. I specialize in connecting with people through music, not just by performing, but by creating a space where fans feel part of the journey. What sets me apart is my willingness to think outside the box, constantly coming up with creative ways to promote my campaign and engage with others. I’m most proud of the community that’s formed around this goal and the momentum we’ve built together, which is proof that music has the power to bring people together for something bigger than just a song.

What are your plans for the future?
My biggest goal for the future is to play Scandinavia on stage with the Jonas Brothers at the Phoenix stop of their upcoming tour on 9/28, and I’m going to keep putting in the work until it happens. Beyond that, I’m focused on growing my music career to the point where it becomes my full-time job. I want to keep recording, performing, and connecting with people through my songs, building on the community and momentum I’ve already started. Everything I’m doing now is with the vision of making music not just my passion, but my livelihood.
