Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Klingeler
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always wanted to help others. I am a disabled Veteran, I served my country with the U.S Marine Corps. I started painting in Seattle while I worked various law enforcement jobs. I went on to become one of the first Federal Air Marshalls hired after 9/11.
Due to anxiety and PTSD I decided to change my career path and move to Phoenix where I continued my education obtaining a Masters degree in Psychology. It was then when I had a mental breakdown and could not pursue a Doctoral degree. I started painting as a therapeutic exercise, not knowing this was going to give me my new career as an abstract artist.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have struggled with anxiety and PTSD since I left the U.S Marine Corps. There are always ups and downs but I have found that having a schedule/pattern makes me feel better, more motivated and happy. I find that painting daily makes me cope and strive for a better mental health.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an abstract artist. I recently opened my first brick and mortar gallery in Old Town Scottsdale. The Klingeler Gallery will offer rotating art exhibits as well as art design services.
The Klingeler Gallery art design services help clients submit their commission artwork with certainty. Our interior design team provides clients with a comprehensive art proposal that will include AutoCAD art elevations as well as a color palette guide to ensure the art size and style is in harmony with the space. We want to create artwork that will elevate the client’s existing interior design style.
What matters most to you?
I started painting as a form of therapeutic exercise to cope with anxiety and PTSD.
My goal is to make people feel a sense of peace when they look at my artwork. I want my client’s homes to feel whole.
I also like to giveback to the community and help others. I want them to feel the same sense of relief painting makes me feel. I give back a percentage of my art sales to multiple organizations through out the year.
