Rae Casson of Chandler on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rae Casson. Check out our conversation below.

Rae, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I love this question. At the beginning of the year I would have said I’m wandering. I felt a little unsure and disconnected from my direction. Something clicked for me around July and I decided I WANT to be walking my path. It honestly feels a bit like starting from zero again, but in a good way. My vision is much clearer now, and even though rebuilding takes time, there’s something really beautiful about that. It feels like I’m building from alignment instead of pressure.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there, my name is Rae! I’m a licensed Esthetician and owner of Razzberrhi Aesthetics in Chandler. I celebrated three years in business in August and have been licensed for 8 years. This year in business has been all about learning my hits and misses and planting seeds now so I have a more seamless year next year. I’m feeling really energized about that. While I’m still growing in my books, there is so much going on in the back end of things. I look at it as a blessing to be able to build my foundations now to ensure I have solid systems in place for when things really pick up.

This year has also been about committing to routines in my personal life so I can keep work and life balanced. It’s done wonders for my mental health which I think goes hand-in-hand with running a business.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think the biggest thing that breaks the bond between people is judgment — especially in friendships. Everyone moves at their own pace and on their own path. It doesn’t make someone better or worse than me, just different.

I actually almost lost a friendship once because I was the one being judgmental. When I let go of the belief that the people in my life had to “rise” with me or get left behind, that friendship came back stronger than ever.

I’ve learned that I don’t have to leave people behind to grow. I can love them right where they’re at. And I think that’s what restores bonds — choosing compassion over judgment.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have absolutely been moments I’ve questioned everything. I adore what I do and the people I serve, but owning a business is no small thing — it has stretched me in ways you I wasn’t prepared for. Everyone’s challenges and thresholds look different, and for me, some days take more belief in my vision than others.

I’ve realized I don’t need to feel 100% confident every single day to stay committed. I just keep showing up, taking care of myself, loving myself through the tough moments, and I always eventually come out the other side a little stronger and a little more sure of why I started.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I really protect the value of collaboration and community. Owning a business can be incredibly isolating, so having people I can connect with and lean on has been essential for me. I’ve learned that my creativity expands when I’m around others who challenge me, inspire me, and offer perspectives I wouldn’t have considered on my own.

Being surrounded by like-minded people keeps me grounded because they understand the highs, the lows, and the reality of what I’m navigating. They know how to support me in ways others sometimes can’t.

My mom is my biggest supporter, and I love her for that, but she doesn’t always understand the behind-the-scenes of my world. That’s why it’s important for me to also have people in my corner who just get it — who speak the same language and who understand the journey I’m on.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Moving. I’ve always wanted to move out of AZ. The world is a big, beautiful place. There are so many things to see and people to meet. I can’t think of anything that would push me out of my comfort zone more honestly. As I get older, the thought seems scarier and that’s why I know I have to do it. When and where will come in time, but it’s something that has called to me from a young age and I know I’ll find the place that actually feels like home.
