Myeshia Washington of Chandler on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Myeshia Washington shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Myeshia, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
During an event in April, I was able to give something that I didn’t know I was able to do. As I was vending at a private event, I had the pleasure of running into a previous customer turned new business owner. In just conversation, I was able to share my journey and what I learned in the years I’ve been open. That one conversation, sparked multiple opportunities and I am able to support a thriving woman owned business. I didn’t know how much of an impact I made until I received the offer for their first event! I am growing daily and to know that I was able to support and aid this business with just my truth was a truly proud moment!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Myeshia Washington and I am the sole owner and operator of Peach 44 LLC dba Peach 44 Creations. My home based bakery was started in February of 2021 in honor of my beloved grandmother. Although I am based in Arizona, I am originally from Detroit, Michigan. I have been an Arizona resident for 18 years.

The purpose of my private bakery is to change the stigma around edibles and the effects of THC products. My mission is to provide a product that heals while being productive. The perception of an “edible” is generally aligned with negativity. My goal is to educate and provide desserts that change that very narrative! I specialize in southern desserts such as peach cobblers, cheesecakes, cookies and also full cakes. In this industry, I am constantly adapting and changing to ensure that my brand is synonymous with a great tasting edible that allows you to be fully functional.

As the industry and laws continually evolve , I have as well. I am now infusing different bases to allow a better product and more versatility. My menu is constantly changing to ensure that I am touching a wide consumer base. As I grow, I hope to incorporate savory foods into the weekly menu.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
When it comes to working and pushing for the things you want in life, my mother has taught me the most. Not only did she raise two children, she worked multiple jobs while earning multiple degrees. To watch her daily, balance work, my brother and I, her marriage and improve herself, is something I can never take for granted. No matter the weather, situation, or obstacle, she pursued her goals and made sure her children received the stability and support they needed. My mother earned multiple degrees, worked for a company for 19 years and decided to make a career change when she moved to Arizona to join my brother and I. Her work ethic, dedication and resilience is something I will be forever grateful to have witnessed.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In 2023, I almost closed my business and hung up my apron. With the continual law changes, obstacles and roadblocks in the industry, not to mention the negativity, I was at a point in which I wanted to close up shop. Things for me were shaken to a core and I needed to decide whether this venture was worth it. After a lot of prayer, lots of encouragement from my customers, I decided to pivot and adjust. Instead of giving up, I decided to use these as building blocks and testimonies to my drive for success.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
My public version is not the real me! You would think that I thrive in social environments, have strong confidence and appears that I have it “all together”. In reality, I am an introvert and suffer from social anxiety. To run my business, I’ve had to open portions of myself to the world and it is not an easy feat. Prior to opening my business, I was virtually silent on social media. It was a way to stay engaged without engagement. I strive to change that by posting daily, even if it is just a shared story on my pages, giving a peak into the person I really am.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When it is all said and done, I hope that people remember me as someone that gave them a smile. Whether it is through my products, or just interaction with me. In our society, you don’t know what anyone faces on a daily basis and if I could give just a bit of encouragement, a reminder to push forward and lastly a smile, then I believe I have done something good for someone else. To impact anyone in a positive way is enough for me.
