Mya Warren’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Mya Warren and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Mya , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Just this morning! I try to focus on gratitude that’s huge in my life and because of it joy comes naturally amongst a plethora of other emotions.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mya and I am the owner of Candle mayhem. I use 100% soy wax to create some of the most amazing one of a kind fragrances. I love chemistry, so I’m always mixing different fragrances to come up with my masterpieces, because of this my Candle fragrances can often not be duplicated. I love what I do with every fragrance I create I try to think of something nostalgic to go along with it and I think that’s where the magic is made. I have a fragrance called R.E.W and it truly is an ode to my grandfather. It definitely puts me back in his lap as a child by the fireplace, this is only one of mini fragrances that I have created that truly invoke those longed for moments.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I’m an extremely outgoing, charismatic person and open to conversation with almost anyone the biggest social butterfly you’ll ever meet so there’s quite a few people in my life who saw me clearly before I even ever could. Going back years ago am I younger days I would definitely have to say my grandmother. She always encouraged me to be myself and to always be outgoing. She saw things in me that I obviously did not. She knew one day I would be a star, but not the kind in the limelight or on TV, but a star in peoples lives. I have an infectious smile. She reminded me of that often. She told me no matter what just smile a smile goes a long way sometimes you don’t even know who needed to see it!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I wanted to give up so many times you gotta think I’m new to all of this. I literally didn’t know where to start what to do but when I found that out, there was no stopping me, but of course there were moments where Sales weren’t where I expected them to be I got fragrance blocks where I couldn’t smell let alone create anything new. I even started naming my candles, their fragrances rather than coming up with these crazy cunning names. Candlemaking has always been fun. It’s never been a job and there were at least two times where I actually no longer looked at it as my reprieve and it wasn’t fun. That’s when it got scary. I remember when I first started making candles it was during Covid and I found so much joy. It was fun a new hobby that turned into a full fledge love and to think that I ever hit a few moments where it wasn’t that was scary actually didn’t take a hiatus for about six months nobody even knew I promoted random candle packs at a special cost so that I could simply package candles randomly without having to focus on inventory. This actually worked amazingly. It gave me the needed break to recharge.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I think the public version of me is definitely the real me. I have so many layers. It’s like a healthy case of multiple personalities in which I think we all have depending on the situation and the scene. Sometimes I’m this outgoing, loud funny center of attention Mya but then other times I’m a very professional articulate creative quiet Mya. It just all depends.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew, I only had 10 years left I would try to stop worrying. I feel like that’s one of my biggest flaws always worrying about something and I think that has a lot to do with my need to control things that’s why I’m my own boss. I have to say try because I know it has a huge hold on me and it would probably take 9.5 years to actually stop doing it lol.
