Meet Paul Farmer of Azbackpack Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Farmer.

Paul, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My Freshman year at South Mountain High School in 2008, I took my first ever communication class, which encouraged kids like myself to get more involved in videography and Radio communication. Within my first month, My teacher Mrs. Miles taught me Most of the terminology and how to handle a $500.00 camera so When it was time to go out and film my first video I would be ready and before I knew it three months have gone by and it was time to finally take what I have learned and apply it to the Real World.

So there I was 15 years old. With a camera in my hand ready to conquer the world and show everyone my creative and artistic talents. I remember getting home that night and showing my mom and dad the camera and telling them how excited I was to go record, then my mom asked me “what are you going to record”? I shouted out “A Skate Video”! I figured that skateboarding would be the absolute perfect topic to shoot only because I felt like that was the most interesting part about my life and at the time I was actually pretty good for my age.

So the next morning came along and I remember immediately jumping out of bed, throwing my clothes on grabbing my camera and heading out to Tempe skatepark for my first ever video shoot with a few friends of mine. I literally spent the whole day filming everything I could. The falls the lands the laughs the jokes the bugs the Blood literally everything. I remember thinking to myself when I got home that evening, “I can’t wait to see the final product after I’m done editing this project”. I’d say it took me about a week to finish and the final product I felt was absolutely amazing. That being said, chasing the final product has always been my inspiration to keep thriving and keep progressing in my videography skills, which has led me to where I am at today.

Has it been a smooth road?
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. At the beginning of 2012, I was 19 years old at the time. I hit my lowest point in life. I had no job hardly any money, no car mooching off my parents that were on the verge of a divorce while I stayed inside and played video games. My relationship at the time wasn’t going too well. Just everything that was going on in my life was very depressing. At that point, I put videography Aside and basically threw it away even When I would go skate. It just wasn’t the same. I tried to apply to college, but The classes that I would have had to take in order to catch up to my regular schedule classes were way too expensive for me to afford.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Azbackpack Productions is my company name, which represents myself and my individual talent in film making. I’ve recently started a daily vlog series on my YouTube channel called “My Story365” It includes a lot of comedy skits, inspirational videos, tech reviews, adrenaline junky stunts, extreme sports and an all-round view of my life on what I do on a day to day basis. I’ve worked with a number of different companies such as Cycle Law, MotoLoot, Moto Animal, I filmed a number of music videos, I’ve even filmed my very own 60-minute long movie called “Super Sunday” which I am most proud of. What I love about my company is that I have branched out on so many different genres over the years that I feel like I can 100% say in the most confident voice I can film any type of video my clients asks for which I feel definitely sets me apart from 98% of videographers in the business.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve traveled around parts of the United States from Gary Indiana, Cleveland, Ohio to L.A California even six hours south of the border to Hermosillo and I can say By far, Phoenix Arizona is the best place to be, Especially If you are a busy body like myself. There is so much to do here, for example, Sports games, skate parks, Medieval Times if you want to imbalance your inner Viking You can even go to a beach believe it or not, but If I could say the most appealing part of my city would definitely have to be the Sunsets. I look forward to 630 pm every evening just so I can take a second out of my busy schedule and look up and see the most captivating sunsets no other state or country can top in my eyes.
