Meet Kristin Kulpa of Phoenix / Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Kulpa.

Hi Kristin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started pickling 10 years ago this year! A decade of bold flavors and experimentation to get to the perfect blend of spices while adding new and fun flavors to my lineup.
It began in a small apartment in San Diego when I was inspired by a local farmers market to attempt making my own pickles. I bought fresh ingredients, threw them together in different containers and the love for pickling was born. I decided to bring in a container to where I worked and my co workers insisted I start selling them.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any business, I had some ups and downs. It was hard to keep up with the demand once my husband and I decided to expand our family so I took a couple of years off while the boys were not in school yet. It was difficult to get back into it. Slowly but surely I built back my customer base and I am bigger and stronger than before!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am The Crafty Pickler and I specialize in bold flavored pickled veggies. I use fresh ingredients, some even grown in my own backyard garden to make pickles, pickled red onion, baby corn, spicy pickles, beets, asparagus, spicy carrots, pickled salsa, cauliflower, Bloody Mary pickles and more. I also have handmade pickled items like bags, ornaments, keychains, soap and even pickled sourdough bread and pickle shaped butter!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook! I have monthly giveaways and contests as well as special pickle releases I will announce on social media. You can purchase my pickles at The Narwhal Taproom and Bottleshop but I also participate in various markets! I have a lot of fun things in the works so be sure to like and follow The Crafty Pickler!
