Meet Katri Morrison-Goulias of The Scottsdale Blonde

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katri Morrison-Goulias.

Katri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a 23-year-old living in Scottsdale, Arizona. I came here from California to complete my undergrad at ASU and decided to stay for the amazing weather, activities, and lifestyle. Traveling has always been a big part of my life and discovering the best places to visit within a city is always a main priority. What I’ve discovered over the years is that it’s hard to get current information on hot spots from other young adults in the area online.

I started The Scottsdale Blonde to help fill the information gap in Scottsdale and the surrounding areas. My purpose is to guide people to the best places to eat, drink and explore in the valley. I love documenting my experiences and sharing them not only just with the community, but also with out-of-towners coming to vacation.

I love channeling my passion for writing into The Scottsdale Blonde blog and my creativity into the Instagram account. The Scottsdale Blonde has become a journal of the trendiest, yummiest, most beautiful places to eat, drink, and explore in the valley. I’ve loved building up the brand and I can’t wait to continue exploring and connecting with Arizona businesses.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Consistency has always been my struggle when it comes to side projects. I have a lot of passion for writing and creativity, but I’ve always allowed other things in my life to take over. When I started The Scottsdale Blonde in August 2019, consistency was my main priority. I found something I really enjoyed channeling my creativity into and wanted to make sure I stayed committed.

When I first started, I didn’t show my face or my personality at all. My idea was to keep it all about the places I was visiting, but that took a lot of the enjoyment out of blogging. After about a month, I felt like I wasn’t making connections or really becoming a part of the community. I experienced a turning point when I decided to introduce myself and let my personality bleed into my content. I had to overcome the fear of being put down or judged and that led me to the amazing connections I have within the community today. Adding my personal touch to my content keeps posting fun and fosters a personal relationship with my followers.

Please tell us about The Scottsdale Blonde.
The Scottsdale Blonde is known for being the place where you can find the perfect spot for your mood. The Instagram is a photo center with captions outlining details on places, menu items, or fantastic view locations. The blog allows users to dive deeper, getting outlined descriptions on particular places, or overviews of broader topics like “What to do when you’re over the club scene”. The Spots Gallery on the blog allows users to sift through hundreds of photos when they don’t know what they want, all linked to a blog post or the business’s website. Lastly, the YouTube channel is a great place for a glimpse into my personal life or topics I’d like to add an extra personal touch to.

The Scottsdale Blonde is a place where locals come to refresh their memory on what’s available around them and where vacationers look for the spots they don’t want to miss out on. It is a glimpse of the electrifying lifestyle of the typical Scottsdale resident and the never-ending checklist of gems throughout the valley.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories involve traveling. My parents are avid travelers and love exploring together and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to travel with them a lot growing up. My favorite memory is swimming in the Mediterranean ocean with my family when we would visit my grandparents in Greece. I think I am so drawn to Scottsdale because it reminds me of a lot of places I’ve visited growing up. It’s always sunning, there’s a lot of nightlife, the people are friendly and suntanning is a major activity.
