Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Farris.
Hi Heather, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I got started when I created my first blog online about motherhood, budgeting, finance, and life. I knew Pinterest was the place to promote my blog posts because the 6 years prior. I had been using Pinterest for just that thing. I quickly grew my blog, realized I had a marketing talent, and started offering services to my fellow content creators. By 2017 I had replaced my income from my job and decided to quit and focus solely on my new little startup. Since 2017 I have grown from a handful of clients to 25 at any time and a thriving YouTube channel & paid membership community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was never smooth. It was very bumpy, with many mistakes and failures, but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything. I’m writing this from when I came home to tell my husband I quit my job without discussing it with him today.
Some of those struggles were charging too little for my services for too long, not diversifying my income sooner, and creating training that fell flat—losing half of my clients all in one week in August of 2019 when I was traveling full-time in my RV with my family.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Heather Farris & Co.?
Heather Farris & Co. doesn’t have a snappy name or anything fun. I named it after myself because I’m not great at naming things. My company is a Pinterest marketing agency helping content creators and e-commerce stores to get more traffic & sales. We work primarily with content creators like home decor experts and e-commerce stores like wedding jewelry and luxury organization items.
What sets us apart? We only offer Pinterest services, and I, as the founder, have used Pinterest every day since 2010. I know this platform in and out, unlike many other marketers who see an opportunity in the market to find clients. This platform changed my life, and now I’m using it to connect my clients to their customers.
What are you most proud of brand-wise? How transparent I am with teaching my audience how to use this platform. I don’t keep information because I want people to like me to learn and succeed and get to the point of hiring my team when they need it.
What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc.? We are a small team made up of real humans just like you. We are always learning, testing, and getting great client results. We also fail just like everyone else. We have clients who don’t meet their objectives and don’t see the results they want to see. That’s normal, and we will never preach and promise big results that aren’t achievable. We truly want to help our clients set up and connect with their audience on Pinterest. We do all this through done for you and with your services like organic and ads management.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I try to avoid thinking that luck has played any role in my business growth or lack thereof. I work hard, have goals and ambitions, and just do my best to achieve them. Sometimes that doesn’t happen because of poor planning or timing. I accept it, adjust my expectations and move on.
