Meet Alexia K. Orozco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexia K. Orozco.

Alexia K. Orozco

Hi Alexia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I feel as if my modeling and creative journey had an unconventional start. I first wanted to begin modeling back in 2021 because I was having issues with confidence and self-esteem and whenever people would compliment me or tell me, “You look beautiful!” I would always thank them, yet never felt what they were really saying to me.

That was until I started modeling, and that became a huge game changer for me; seeing myself in a whole new realm and creative outlet helped me change the way I saw myself for the better. I began researching how to dress for casting calls, what to look out for, and attending several events just to network, and it’s pretty much taken off from there.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has most certainly not been a smooth road as there have been a lot of ups and downs. From tons of no’s on top of the yes’s, my impostor syndrome is one of my biggest and main struggles as a model and creative. Imposter syndrome is the condition of feeling anxious and not experiencing success internally despite being high-performing in external, objective ways.

This has held me back from auditioning for casting calls, has made me tone down my social media presence from time to time, as well as has significantly lowered my self-esteem. However, you cannot expect anyone to believe in you if you do not believe in yourself, something I constantly tell myself that very much helps with that feeling of impostor syndrome.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a writer, content creator, and model specializing in commercial, editorial, atelier, and runway projects. I have been modeling since the end of 2021 and since then have modeled for brands like Hotel Valley Ho, Zia Records, Berdena’s Coffee, and so many more. I am proud of so many of the brands and projects I have been a part of, as I pour my heart and soul into everything I do, whether it be a creative endeavor or not.

What sets me apart from others is not only my drive to get things done but my adaptability to any project, as I am always looking to try new things. I began atelier modeling at Scottsdale Artists’ School at the beginning of this year, and it has been one of the most wonderful experiences working with the artists and people there. I had never done atelier modeling prior to SAS, so I was very excited to try something new, and I feel excited and proud to have excelled in something new.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very curious and creative child. I remember that in my first-grade class, I would constantly write stories and “write books”, which I think is where my creative spirit was first born, in my writing. I always had questions and wanted to learn about anything and everything as a kid.

I had a very active imagination and used that to my full advantage, whether that meant I was acting out scenes with my friends, writing stories and books, and just daydreaming. I am very happy to say that I really sincerely believe that little me would be so proud of where I am now and all of the things I am accomplishing in life whether it be in my creative life or in my professional life.
