We recently had the chance to connect with Lucero Rivero and have shared our conversation below.
Lucero, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. That’s what keeps me around someone, whether it’s in work or friendship. When people are genuinely like this, you can see it in how they act, how they talk, and how they treat others. It’s something real that you can’t fake, and that’s what I value the most.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Lu, a professional photographer and videographer based in Phoenix. I run LR Media, where I specialize in capturing visual stories for hotels, restaurants, Airbnb hosts, and lifestyle brands. What makes my work special is the mix of creativity and adaptability, especially when it comes to last-minute shoots. My clients appreciate that I truly understand how fast things move in today’s viral, social media-driven world, and I always try to make them feel comfortable reaching out anytime. If I’m available, they know I’ll be there to create the content their business needs. And when I say last min, I have say yes for same day or next day shoot.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I’m dedicating this part to a real friend, Tim Chow, who’s in the same industry and took the time to share his knowledge with me and another friend for an entire year. He gave us the foundation and techniques we needed to grow into the creators we wanted to become. Even though we all have our own styles, I’m so grateful for him because not everyone is willing to share what they’ve learned. I hope I can inspire others the same way and I’m always open to sharing what I know with anyone who wants to pursue this career.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
Chasing money. Of course, it matters, but I’ve realized it’s not my main goal. What truly matters to me is doing the things that make me happiest, and those moments always happen when I’m traveling, exploring new places, or simply stepping away from my routine. That’s when I feel most like myself.
I’ve learned to intentionally make space for that. Every year, I take about a month and a half off during the summer and another month during the holiday season, which are usually my slower times for work. I also try to plan small trips in between the busy seasons. It’s my way of reminding myself that happiness and balance are just as important as success.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I rely a lot on the advice of older people I respect. Whenever I ask them what they regret most about their younger years, the answer is almost always the same: they wish they had traveled more. That’s taught me a lot. It reminds me that waiting for retirement or the “perfect time” to pursue personal goals isn’t the truth. Life is happening now, and I try to live it fully by making time for experiences that matter to me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when all my edits are delivered hehe. Not kidding, it gives me such a great feeling and makes me ready to take on the next project. But outside of work, something that really keeps me at peace is a simple value I live by: the way you treat others matters. When people are kind and genuine, it creates a sense of calm and balance that really sticks with me.
