Life & Work with Alicia Nicole of Phoenix / Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Nicole.

Hi Alicia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began as a hobbyist photographer almost 10 years ago. It all started out of a love for capturing the beauty of everyday life. Over time my photography evolved and I began Alicia Nicole Photos shortly after having my first child. I specialize in newborn, maternity, and family photography as it is a space that I can personally relate to. The ability to connect to my clients in a place of understanding has allowed me to curate an experience that anticipates their needs and serves them well beyond beautiful artwork.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building a business comes with its challenges. The photography industry is heavily saturated, especially in Phoenix. So finding ways to stand out, build a solid offering, and stay consistent all while continuously nurturing my craft is a lot to juggle. Posting and marketing on social media has been the most challenging for me. In a way, photographers have now become like influencers online. It’s a great way to establish trust, build a personal brand, and stand out from the masses. However, showing up online has definitely been the hardest part for me…. it is largely out of my comfort zone, so I am still a work-in-progress there.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in newborn, maternity, and family photography. As a mother myself, this is a season of life that I can relate to and connect with my clients from a place of understanding. Throughout my photography journey, I have photographed several niches in an effort to discover what really clicks for me. After several years, and my own motherhood journey, I have discovered that my work really flows naturally and most creatively when I am working with newborns, expecting mothers, and families. It gives me the opportunity to serve these families and capture the precious moments that truly are so fleeting. I offer a full service experience; so, in working with Alicia Nicole Photos my clients have access to professional hair & makeup, a curated client wardrobe, artwork, and a done-for-you experience. This really resonates with the busy moms who know what they want but don’t have the time to piece together all of the aspects that bring a luxurious photography experience to life. I think what sets me apart is that I offer an experience that puts my clients first with care and intention. Of course it is about beautiful imagery and I make every effort to provide my clients high-end photography and artwork. Though, I also make the effort to get to know my clients personally, anticipate their needs, and am there for them in ways that serves them beyond just a digital gallery of images. I care about people first, and everything else comes after that. I think sometimes business owners are so focused on a mission to build that we lose sight of the people we are serving. I can understand this as I have had seasons where I was the same. After years of experience and some mistakes, it is important to me that I stay grounded in my overall mission to serve and love others well.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My babies! I have two kids and they are my entire world. Everything I do is for them. Raising my two kids is my greatest calling and a true honor. They have brought me so much joy, purpose, and I am a better person because of them.
