Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Reid.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was in my early 30’s, I received a postcard in the mail for a free 30-minute facial. Since I was feeling “old”, I made the appointment, hoping the esthetician would make me feel better about myself. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and right then, I knew that I had to learn to make people feel as wonderful as she had made me feel in that moment. From there, my search for the perfect school began, I attended, and was very fortunate to attain a position in a luxury hotel in the valley
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The beginning of my career as wonderful! I learned so many new things and met people from around the world, but I knew I wanted more. In the hotel spa, I was able to offer mostly relaxing facials and I wanted to do more extensive treatments. My goal was to work for a Plastic Surgeon and be able to do treatments that could change a person’s life. After many years in the field, I have attained that goal and proud to say that many clients have been able to transform themselves because of a boost in self-confidence.
My advice to any new esthetician is to keep setting new goals every year. This can be a tough business and you must find what sets you apart. Once you find that niche, you’ll never look back.
Please tell us about Beauty Made Simply.
My passion is helping women realize their outward beauty. So often, we look down on ourselves and don’t see just how gorgeous we all are. If I can help someone feel amazing from the time she wakes up to the time she calls it a night, I’ve done my job. The name of my company is Beauty Made Simply because outward beauty doesn’t have to be a struggle. I specialize in many different types of facials, chemical peels, and microneedling, as well as permanent makeup and removal of skin irregularities.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Since I work in a female-dominated industry, I do not find any barriers.
