Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Samantha Belle of Phoenix

Samantha Belle shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I choose integrity, because intelligence can be taught and energy is malleable. Moving through life with integrity is a choice, and a powerful one at that. It influences everything for the better and gives energy and intelligence a purpose. Find someone operating with integrity and you’ve found success.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! I’m Samantha Belle, and I am an award-winning speaker, performer, and coach. Within the speaking space, I blend the neuroscience of live music with the power of the spoken word to create Motivational Keynote Experiences. As a performer, I am a singer and actor in musicals, tv and voice over – I call it the triple threat of stage, screen and studio! As a performance coach, I work with creatives and entrepreneurs on navigating multi passionate success through my membership: The Fulfillment Experience. We uncover the consequences of their subconscious mindset through company wide Mindset Mondays, and habits for success in group and 1:1 settings. I’m a straight shooter who will tells it like it is and deeply loves what I do.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a little ball of sunshine that danced and sang and made friends with everyone I met. I got in trouble in school for talking too much and for standing up for my friends. I was a little girl who held play at the center of her universe, and who loved hugs, sparkles and Disney. I was loving and trusting and curious. I was loud. I was a leader and a rule follower, always excelling in everything I did, and obsessed with puppies. I was the real me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
What I have to say to my younger self starts off cliche, because everyone who has reached success knows the power of its truth. Baby Belle, “You are enough. You are just loud enough for your incredible career as a performer. You are just talkative enough for your impactful career as a speaker. You are ‘too much’ because when the stage is your home, you are the perfect amount of muchness. Always allow joy to be your purpose, never doubt your ‘why’, and your audacity will change lives.”

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies the industry of entertainment and expression tells itself is that there is any limitation. Honestly I’ve found those that are the loudest about the lies aren’t even in the industry. Yes, there is truth that there are trends or methods that cater to certain groups more than others. It is also true that there are examples of individuals who have broken every rule and made it anyway. Yes, you can do what you want to do for a living. Yes, there is a spot for you. Yes, there are opportunities, ESPECIALLY with social media and accessibility increasing. No, you’re not too old or too inexperienced to start. Yes, you can start from where you live right now. Yes, you can feed yourself without doing a job you hate. No, you don’t need a plan B. Yes, you have a story to tell. Yes, I’m sure.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I have! This happened with my ‘30 before 30’ list. First of all, I was 29 and hadn’t ever thought to make a list to measure my success at a certain age. The reason I started to make one at all was because I gave in to social pressures and wanted to prove myself. Upon beginning to imagine what would even be on my list, I found that I had made tremendous progress, hit incredible milestones, yet still wasn’t “enough.” As I continued down the path of life, I found that true success came after emphasizing joy versus worrying about specific results. When I had specific results as an appropriate goal, the key was to keep the results realistic and attainable, focusing back on joy as soon as I could. I learned approval is an internal game and it is up to me to celebrate myself. Any time I quantified my success and ranked it, it has had a negative effect on my motivation and outcomes versus allowing where I am to be enough…because it is! I’ve never been more knowledgeable or experienced as I am right now.
